311 Rear Shocks
So we did the fronts. What about the backs? If you are just replacing the rear shocks the job is very easy.
Again, break the wheel lug bolts loose, Jack the rear of the car up supporting it with jack stands. Remove the tires and rims. Remove the double nuts securing the shock to its bottom mounting point. Remove the top nut holding the shock in place. This can be a bit of a chore to get to but hang in there. Remove the old shock.
You can now install the new shock with its new bushings and metal cups. Place the top of the shock on its mounting point and secure with the nut. Push up on the shock until the bottom seats into its mounting point. Don't forget the bushings. Install the bushings and nuts on the bottom of the shock.
Go to the other side and repeat the process. Once both sides are done put the tires and rims back on. Jack the car up and remove the jack stands. That pretty much covers the rear shocks. Pretty easy huh!
