Rear window channel repair by Peter Harrison
Stress and wear and tear take their toll on the rear channel, especially on the driver’s side. After all, it is only about an 1/8 thick.
So this is my fix :
The problem : broken tab
The solution – JB Weld and a piece of ¼ square metal rod – the extra holes in this picture were an aborted attempt by a PO to fix the problem by screwing in a metal bracket – same thickness – some fix.
I used a file to take off any crud from all the parts.
Cover all the parts with JBWeld, set it up square and let it cure. The paper was to avoid the assembly attaching itself to the vise. In a previous experiment, when force was applied to the bracket, it bent at the weld, not at the right angle..
