Head studs

Post by Marky510 »

Hi,
Getting back to my stroker motor and I'm looking to use head studs when I put it back together. I looked on the ARP site but they don't list the R-16 application but they do list an A-12 and an A-14 application. Anyone know if the A series uses the same as R-16's, or if anyone has done this and has an ARP part number for the kit?

Dean at Fairlady has that info. And I don't hink he is letting us have it. :)

Enough people on the the baord might be able to piece something together.

If you do your local Hot Rod shop and have them measured up. Please... share the information with us. ;)

Sorry for not answer your question completely.

Dennis Louthan already did the research and Steve Allen has it posted on 311s.org - check this link:

would the torque settings for the nut/ stud set up be the same as the stock Bolts? Seems they should be, but is anyone sure?

thanks

Torque will probable different somewhat. ARP bases their torque specs on bolt stretch.

I replaced just about every bolt on my 3-main race engine with an ARP stud. I've been using 65 ft-lbs for head torque, and it's worked very well for me.

Hey Steve, can you post this info somewhere on the sight?...

This is related to the ARP head bolt page...
http://www.311s.org/tech/engine/headbolt.html

I have info for the U20. I went to Nissan to replaced my 14 header studs for the intake/exhaust manifold. The part number is:
14065-V5004

They are apparently designed for turbo applications, so I assume they are above OEM specs from yester year. They said these won't rust. They are listed a $5 each but since I bought all 14 they gave em to me for $2 each. Pretty cool.

(BTW: If anyone is near a Harbor Freight Tools they have a 4-piece 1/2 inch socket Stud Puller set for $5.97 this week. They work great, like a charm.)
