Don't about the Bay Area... I know a guy out in Lodi I can recommend.

But, I suggest going to a freind or a freind-of-a-freind who has a regular chroming service like a car restoration guy.

They have a dealer discount they have a with a guy they pretty much rely on.

That's what I'm am doing here except I am going as a group with the discount as a dealer that includes the pickup and delivery...

Hope this helps...

Alvin

I would go talk to a few of your local Chroming shops, most of them send the bumpers out to a place in LA bacause they have the molds for them to put them back into shape.

I have seen prices anywhere from about $135- $250 per bumper.

Faith Bumper Service

Post by impinhigh »

Hey Alvin,
I used Faith Bumper service in Santa Clara. They straightened and rechromed for 190.00 per bumper. I thought they did a great job and very quickly.

powder coat

I know its not standard and probably frowned upon by many, but I'm going to have my bumbers and trim powdercoated. It'll cost much less (I'm low budget). Maybe in the far future I'll upgrade to chrome.

To each his own, as long as it makes sense to you and fits your pocketbook that is all that matters.

All most of us like to see is mora and more of these on the roads whether they are a daily driver or a pimp mobile thats up to the owner.

For the East Coast people. I am going to Atlantic City this weekend for a big car auction they are having at the Convention Center. http://www.acclassiccars.com I will be dropping off all my chrome to be redone. I spoke to NuChrome from MA and was told that their will be alot of automotive vendors including many Chroming companys from all over the east coast. I plan on getting prices from as many of them as possible. I know one of our clubs out here have used NuChrome and were happy with their work. Over the phone prices were. Bumpers 200.00 to 300.00 , Overiders 50.00 to 75.00 , Luggage rack 250.00 to 350.00 , Headlight bezels 50.00 to 100.00 , trunk handle 50.00 to 75.00 I'll post my findings next week.

Hey Matt,
Do you have the number for these guys? Also a contact person I should ask for? I just gave my windshield trim, both windwings, and front bumper to a guy that does runs to somewhere in L.A. and he wanted $600 for doing it all! I said to go ahead with the windshield trim but would like to find a better rate for the other pieces. We have over five powdercoaters within a 50 mile radius yet not one chromer for 200+ miles!

Faith Bumper 408 986-1226 can't recall the guy I talked to over there but they are all ready good folks. Let me know if you need any help with handling, they are just a few miles from work.

Hey Matt,
I was thinking of taking you up on your offer. I think I may feel safer sending them off if I have someone I know at the other end. I just canceled having this guy do my stuff through L.A. He called today and said it would be $425 just for the windshield frame and over $250 for the bumper (which has one little dent and barely any rust!). I wanted to spend some of my tax return on these tasks not all of it!

No problem, Send them either UPS or FEX Ground to my work:

Matt Jacquet
C/O Jacquet Automotive- (it's actually my wife business office but this let's her know it's for me and the name sounds good!!)
1095 Bird Avenue #1
San Jose, Ca 95122

Include your contact info so Faith can call you when they are done. I'm sure they will take your credit card when they are completed. My bumpers were 190.00 each, I didn't have my overriders on at the time so I'm not sure they are included. We can always give it a chance. I was very happy with the work I had done.

I'll drop them off the next day.

That sounds gret Matt and I have no problem paying you for your time and effort. I feel safer this way having you physicaly interacting with them instead of correspondence by phone. I will find a box and ship the parts out the by next Monday. Thanks again!
