The Selling of cars

Post by Datsa 66 »

I have often been amazed by people that I know as roadster enthusiasts who "suddenly" sell their cars. I have also been contacted by many people that want to sell their cars and want me to help them find someone to buy them.

Alan Duquette did surprise me too by first selling his car and then pulling it and then fire selling his car. Unfortunately, this is not a rare or unusual event. I think it comes down to the fact that these cars are luxury items.

Priorities change and sometims life gets in the way. Alan selling his car is certainly his business and I am sure he did not come to the decision lightly.

I would not consider selling my car right now but in truth I cannot predict that I will never sell it. Things change. Something to keep in mind the next time we see someone we never thought would sell their car does so.

Selling of Cars

Post by Ldino21 »

I am like you Andrew it is sad to see the selling of cars by some great owners on the list. But we need to realize that they are offering us the opportunity to make a new friend and a larger roadster community. Many roadster owners who sell their cars, be it for financial, personal or otherwise as long as we don't ostacize them they will eventually come back. You just can't get the bug out of you.

I sold my 69-2000 4 months ago, and because I sold it, it is motivating me more to get my other Roadster project finished before Solvang. That's one more car to add to this years show and one more owner to join the club.

As long as these cars are not being sent to the scrap heap or completely parted out on ebay, the club will continue to grow and prosper.

Bad withdrawls selling a Datsun Roadster

Post by Alan Duquette »

Hi guys,
Thanks for the kind thoughts. A lot has changed in my life. And, I had terrible withdrawls over the dam thing for months. I almost had a heart attack the 1st time that I put it up. Part of the addiction. With a 1.5 and 5 year old in my great little family priorities, realistically, demanded more that 2 seats! The only way I've justified my car over the last two years was commuting to work and back, and an occasional drive with one kid. But, being stuck in traffic in a sports car gets pretty un-exciting no matter how you look at it. The guy who bought my car is from LA, CA. He's already ordered a carpet set and set up someone up to install it. I think he's going to bring it to a higher life!

I'll be around,
Alan

I know what you mean... I have a little boy (Harry) due for delivery Oct. 2. This will make my family unit to a total of 4.

I had to sell my 1987 Toyota P/U (2+1 seater) with 115K miles for a V6 1992 Toyota 4Runner with 175K miles. Toyota trucks... these things run forever. I bought the excellent condition 4Runner for $4200. I trying to sell the excellent condition P/U for close to $3500. Not a bad trade off.

I dodged the bullet you had to take this time. Lord knows what would of happened if the Roadster was actually running. :)
