What's an L16 engine?

Y'all,

What's an L16 engine? Is it a roadster's? Well, I bought it
from a farm house in Livermore, CA a few weeks ago, even
before I got the roadster. Then I realized I can't keep it around
my kitchen, no room at all, so I gave it to Pick and Pull in Rancho
Cordova, CA. Anyway, just wondering what Datsun it came out
off?

An R16 is a roadster's, correct?

The L16 is not a Roadster engine. Although people have swapped it into Roadster's becuase of its more common availibility of parts.
Personally I can think of better engines to swap, but that just me.

The L16 comes from a Datsun pickup. I think some 510 had it too.
The Roadster engine is an R16 for 1600s, and U20 for 2000s.

I'm not familiar with the 1000s, 1200s and 1500s motors at all, so I don't what that engine is. I think Sid can answer that.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to know that I didn't throw
away a roadster engine. I got it for $40.

Sorry Minh, I don't know a thing about the 1000s or 1200s (other than the fact that I would like to own one of those 1964 or so trucks that had the 1200 engine in it). There were a few different 1500s. The G 15 is a Roadster motor. My knowledge of L series motors is very limited as well. I know that there was the L16, L18, L20A (6 cylinder), L20B (4 cylinder) and then the Z motors.

On engine swaps, I saw a photo of one that I would like to see in person. Someone swapped in a L28 into a Roadster. Stock hood and all! It was a full up engine bay....
