Lug Nuts/Studs & Sometimes Just Cant Win
Seems like 4 steps forward, one step back. But its fun!
Went to mount the Wheels back on our '67 1600 and the front left lug spun and snapped. And the right rear lug nut broke in half (HOW!!!!).
Anyone know what size/where to get a stud for the front and where to get these lug nuts?

I just did longer studs for the front, I know Dean sells them and its convenient because you can get everything you need. Might want to order the wheel bearings too just in case they dont look too good when you take it all apart.

Try Summit racing for the lug nut. They have a wide selection based on dimensions.

Parts Interchange page has all the info you need on studs, lug nuts, wheel bearings. And there are threads with pics too in archives.

yes, Summit is a good choice for the lugs, just watch the shank length- if too long the wheel won't be tight.

Also, suggest you use a torque wrench, you should never break a wheel stud.

Thats the thing... I didnt tighten yet.. The stud was spinning backed off the nut and the stud came with it.. was weird. Same with the lug nut on the other one. it wasnt even fully seated yet and it ripped in half... not sure whats going on.

Sounds like a PO issue.. wrong/cheap studs or overtorqued at some point? The Nissan studs don't really fail if they are not over-tightened-Once that happens, the stud stretches and goes into yield. Obviously if it was spinning, something is amiss.jeremywatco wrote: ↑Sun Oct 14, 2018 9:00 pm Thats the thing... I didnt tighten yet.. Re: Lug Nuts/Studs & Sometimes Just Cant Win
It would really bother me to keep wondering about the other studs & nuts failing, and if it were me, I would probably replace all of the studs and nuts, on all 4 wheels for peace of mind. As JT68 suggests, it seems like an issue related to over-torqueing....an over zealous impact wrench comes to mind....IMHO
