Roadster "Stuff" in Oklahoma

Post by notoldnfat »

Ok guys and gals, I ran into a fellow today that has quite a bit of "roadster stuff"....here's what I found most interesting, to me anyway, 1. a complete running U20 with solex setup and an extra solex manifold and solexes. Od course the 5 speed that goes along.....both of which are in a 68 that has ALOT of body issues, but does have comp springs all the way around....other than that, not much to write home about. Then, he's got a 68 1600 that looks rough as well....while both cars are all there, they just seem rough for the asking price of $2000 for both. He has ALOT of other odds and ends, but it's all over the garage...with BMW and other stuff. I really only want the U20, 5 speed and one solex setup....and the comp springs.....but he will not seperate. Any ideas or wish lists? Maybe we could work something out about a group purchase?

That is not a bad price for them. You could easily recoup some of your money. Hopefully someone close to you will pipe up an help you out. My wife would shoot me if I brought another roadster part home. Especially something I could not hide from her.

Yours is not a bad deal. A running 2000 and in good condition fetches about $5000 in California

The extra manifold and solexs can subsidize for the new paint.

The other 1600 can defray the body work and replace the spare parts. (i.e. working on fender then swapping it later when done.)

As a matter fact Will would probbably trade what he could for that other solex linkages.

Solex linkage

Did some one mention a solex linkage that has no carbs? I have a set of carbs with no linkage..... I have the new style carbs, the linkages are different. Let me know what happens with this.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Well, I don't know if the solex carbs are old or new...I don't know much about them, I'm in OK for Pete's sake....I'm probably the only other roadster guy....other than they guy I may be buying from;-) I'll see what I can do!
