How's about and adaptor plate for an oil cooler and/or tranny cooler?

An oil cooler would be a lot more driver freindly than that expensive accident prone 8 qt. pan.

Mount a electric fan on it too for even lower temps.

oil cooler mount

Post by SLOroadster »

An oil cooler mount is a possibility. The guy who is doing the machine work also makes all the parts for Maximum Motorsports (Ford Mustang tuner). They have an oil cooler adapter that might be adaptable to our use. The big oil pan isn't the problem. The problem is when people take the stock springs and cut them down. With the comp springs you have a much higher spring rate. Also people just need to be careful.

Will,

Please, please, please...

If you can make an adaptor,.. make a screw on substitution for the oil filter. I have designed an oil filtration invention that I am dying to try.

Let's just say you never have to change any oil again... Just add more oil to replace the already normally evaporating oil on far and few occasions. I won't forget the favor ($)... I am just about to submit for the patent with the prototype.

Email me direct...

I was thinking of machining my own, but...

How's about right side alternator mount or relocation kit?

Alternator relocation

Post by SLOroadster »

Now that isn't a bad idea. I have already done that and switched to an 80 amp Chevy. I did it by using the smog pump bracket. Its not perfect but its close.

Since the Solex's are rare along with the linkages...

Also the price of the Solex intake manifolds are steep too...

How about an U20 Weber intake manifold.

Weber no longer make them and everyone who has one won't let em go.

Make them in both a downdraft and sidedraft model.

Weber Manifold?

Post by SLOroadster »

I have never heard of a weber manifold for a U20. The solexs can be found so can the manifold. It took me awhile to find both, but they are out there. The 45 DCOEs will work but linkages could be challanging to find.
good luck,
Will

Webers

Post by Plasmaboy »

I have twin 40mm Webers on my supercharged U20 .. they are a direct bolt onto the Solex manafold , they use to use the original linkages but I have changed it for the " delux weber linkage " from Redline Weber . The mount bolts directly to the underneath of one of the carbies and has a cam and lever type linkage arrangement . It works well .. but its not cheap .. $190 in Australia

Plasmaboy... What/shich supercharger did you use.

With dual carbs I am curious. Is supercharger mounted pre or post the dual carbs.

I thought the supercharger setup would have been a post setup with a large single carb...

Toyota MR2... Geez thanks. I thought aimed at using that one. But gave up.

Glad to know it can work and kinda talked away from it becuase of the damage to carbs...

How much of a boost pressure?...

supercharger

If you give me your e-mail address , Ill send you a couple of pics of how I got it to fit . I am using webers , that can handle blow through turbo setups as long as you use the solid plastic floats , not the brass ones .. they tend to crush with minimal boost pressure . Its a snug fit in the engine bay .. but it does fit

The MR2 is a good donor, if you can find it. The Supercharger goes about $400.

I found this site that has an EFI spreadsheet for prospecting the option...
