Another front / rear disk conversion option

Hi everyone, I have completed a disk conversion . Using Nissan parts itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s a fairly easy swap . IÃ¢â‚¬â„¢m in Australia so I used the rear disks and callipers of an Australian sold Nissan " Pintara " . The disks fit right on the axles with the 4 stud holes in the pintara disks . You also use the pintara calliper mounts with a minor mod . These work well with a 280ZX master cylinder and front brakes from another Aussie car the " commodore " ( same callipers as a corvette of 80's - 90's vintage and disks off a Honda Prelude VTI-R . The 4 stud holes are a perfect line up with the 4 mounting bolt holes for the solid disks . All thatÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s needed is to open up the disks centre hole 5mm on a lathe to fit the datsun wheel hub . The commodore callipers bolt to the original mounting bracket and itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s all a perfect line up .. No mods / butchering of the suspension is required

Do you have any idea what US market Nissan cars use the same brake parts as you described? If you can come up with part numbers, or other years of production, that would help. Thanks for researching the options!

You failed to mention that this mod will change your 4 lug (4x4.5 inch) wheel pattern to a 5 lug. Do you know what 5 lug pattern this is.

Cool, I prefer the 5 lug do to the much better vast selection of rims available.

Okay i am confused...

The Stanza's disk are a 4 lug. The Honda Prelude VTR's disk are a 5 lug. Am I missing something here?

Its an Australian disk manufacturer with an excelent catalogue . I have some pics of the completed front and rear conversion ( its on my supercharged daily driver) but I dont know how to post them on here sorry

datjunky... I am looking at my engine sheet. The 89-92 Stanza has a a KA24E SOHC. My understanding is that this motor is a RWD. The some motor is in the 88-90 240SX and 89-92 Pickup (California) - both RWD.

Based on the info on the Prelude VTi-R front rotor center hole (64mm)... you are saying the Roadster front rotor center hole is 5mm over making it 69mm? I ask becuase the info is not on the reference.

I'm not sure what actually is a Commodore is...

Also the original Roadster front rotor (284mm) is 2mm bigger than the Prelude (282mm). If I understand it the bigger the rotor the better the stopping power and cooling. But it is had to believe that 2mm will make that big of a difference.

Plasmaboy do you have anything similar to the reference material for the calipers like you did for the drums and disks...

BTW: It looks like almost every rear drum for the Datsun in that era were the same one. Can't say for sure since the 311 Drums are not listed.(page 105)

I found that there is a 90-92 Nissan Stanza has Rear Disk Rotors available for it. It might have been an optional upgrade. Not sure right now.

Hey, if anyone figures out a 5 lug brake conversion for the Roadster spindles, clue me in! I don't like adaptors, but would LOVE a 5 lug front end (would make the change to a 5 lug rear axle more reasonable as you would only need one spare tire...)

BTW: Fellas, only the 90-92 Stanza GXE's had rear disks as standard issue They appear to ABS. The rear caliper are not cheap when buying from the corner parts store. Over $80 with ~$75 core charge. Looks like it's the Pick-N-Pull I go.

Anybody got an 85-88 Maxima? The 90-92 Stanza GXE and Maxima 85-88 are swappable...

I am reviving this in hopes that someone has more information on the front brake calipers from the commodore. I see another thread on the Facebook group discussing the usage of prelude calipers once bored out on the hub. It seems like if the commodore front calipers bolt up and we can get a confirmed crossover for them to which specific vintage of Vette is needed this would be another good alternative for roadster owners.

@plasmaboy - do you have any info you can offer? I know this was a very long time ago.
