Wheel fitment on stock '64 310

I'm looking at rim options for my '64 310. I picked up a set of finned aluminum brake drums off what I think was a 1600 Roadster and they don't fit in the stock generic steel wheels. I planned to upgrade anyway so I'm looking at Panasport and Superlite rims. Do any of you guys know what size rims and tires I can go with that will fit without modifications in my car? I'd rather not modify the fenders at all to mount the wheels and tires.

Didn't see anything that actually answered my question. Some of the rim pictures are nice but don't list if any modifications (spacers, rolled fender lips, etc) are required.

That is because the 1500 is a small fraction of the Roadsters out there. Basically a narrow front wheel drive 13" wheel with the proper bolt pattern is what you need...

Hrm. So I can't go with a larger set of Panasport or Superlite rims that will be big enough for the finned drums? As it sits, the finned drums won't fit the stock steel wheels. The drums sit about half an inch away from the seating surface of the rim.

Sorry, I forgot that you wanted to use the aluminum drums. Yes, you can go up in size to a 14 or 15, but you may be on your own figuring out the proper offset.

I'll be trying a set of Z wheels with 175/65-14 on the front in the next week or so. I'll let you know. No engine yet, so it will be a guess.

Still learning about what parts fit which year of vehicle. Looks like these finned drums were off of 67 - 70 Roadster rear axles with 14 inch wheels. Any idea if a set of those would fit my car without modifying the fenders?

You can put the later Roadster wheels on your car. I would suggest that you try the 65 - 67 as they are 4" wide rather than 4.5" wide - the half inch may make a difference. The rear axle on a 1500 is wider than on a 1600 while the 13" wheels have a deeper backspace than the 14" wheels. That puts the late tires closer to the fenders. (Dave, are you paying attention here?)

I have been very happy using (910) Nissan TRX Bluebird series 3 rims on my SP310. They are 15" X 6" rim with what I believe is a front wheel drive offset of around 41 (eyeballed with an wooden ruler). The tyres are 195/50ZR15. These rims are around $200 a set in Aus and are extremely common on 510s and 610s.

Wow, that opens up some possibilities. I wonder who makes a 6" +40 and an 8" zero or neg10 in the same style?

Looking at Alvin's wheel thread in this forum, a few cars have 15 X 6, +15mm rims that look good. Some have the narrow fender flares similar to my car. Being as how most of those cars don't list the year, I can't really guess if the 15X6's would fit mine. Anyone care to chip in some knowledge? As far as wheels go, I'm not looking to stay vintage.
