Reproduction SOLEX Throttle linkages

Post by SLOroadster »

I am taking a poll to see how many 2L owners who have SUs would like to change to Solexs? The carbs are easy to find, the correct linkages are not. If I ever want to get my car back on the road, I need to have a set of linkages made up. I found someone here in San Luis Obispo who says he can do it, however the minimum order is 20 pairs. I was wondering if enough people would like to switch over that I could either make a bigger production run (cheaper resale) or just be able to sell the extra 18 sets (because keeping an extra is always a smart thing to do with something like this.)
Let me know what you guys think,
See ya,
Will

Linkages

Post by SLOroadster »

Am I the only person who wants/ needs a pair of these? I have searched for a year and still can't find the proper set. I am shocked by the lack of interest. The price should be resonable, I just need to know if its worth my spending a large sum of money to have 20 sets made.

Will,

It looks like you are so far. There are not a lot of people running the solex/mikuni setups. More SUs than anything with a very small smattering of Webers. Try posting it to the Roadster List but I would bet you will not get much response from there either. It cannot hurt to try though.

How much did you end paying for the new linkage?

Where did you get if you did not and how much?

New throttle linkage

Post by SLOroadster »

I didn't have the linkages made. If I can get some people interested I'd do it. The place here in San Luis Obispo said they could do it but only in a quantity of 20 sets minimum. I don't need 18 sets, I'd like to have 2 sets, but I'm not about to spend the money to have them sit. I think it would be about $500 to have the 20 sets made. I have the AUTOCAD plans ready to go.

Throttle linkages

The carbs are spaced differently. I tried. I pulled a set straight off of a running car with 45dcoes. No go.
