Wheel adapters

Post by dynaguy »

I have a set of 14x6 wheels that have a 5"backspace. When mounted on the front, the inside of the wheel contacts the a-frame, and I think if a tire is mounted it whould hit the front sway bar. Has any one had luck with a wheel adapter or spacer and longer lug nuts?? The rear would mount up and clear O.K. but I'm concerned about changing the front end width and not the rear. Any help greatly appreciated. Pat Mahoney '69 2000

It depends on the added with by sidewall from the outer edge of the rim.

If you have a 1/2 inch of sidewall from the edge of the rim the max backspace you can have on a rim in the rear is 4 inches.

The front rims are a little more giving (not much) with about 4 1/4 inch max rim backspacing.
