And you don't feel a little guilty at all with the deal you got over on someone?

Oh well... It's the PO own d@mn fault for not know what he was selling and not being registered on the forum to help protect him frm himself, heh, heh...

With the coast saving you can redo the interior, minor inperfections, paint, and top.

Will you be taking this or the Z3 to Shasta this year? My best buddy will bringing his Z3 if he can't bring his dad's Roadster.

Ya Done Good!!! I know that some folks will be jealous when they see what you got for the money. It would take very little to put that car back to factory stock specs! Your first order of business NEEDS to be getting a proper battery hold down. The bungee cords are a disaster waiting to happen.

The Datsun Roadsters (regardless of year or model) are the most fun driving cars that can be found for the money. Enjoy that thing! Fix the little odds and ends it needs, and take it to cruise ins and shows. I will be the first to chime in with my not too humble opinion on this - that car looks VERY close to stock. I would put it back to stock and keep it that way (except for maybe some wheels - but keep the stockers) rather than going the custom route. The chrome dash models like that are (again my opinion) the best looking of the bunch. There are so many of these that have died horrible deaths over the years that we need to save all that we can....

That was the one thing I noticed in this forum.... In the other forums I belong to most of the people live to post pics of their cars... I thought maybe it wasn't permitted here, but I looked thru the FAQ's and it is ok as long as the images are stored somewhere else.... Yea the bungee cords suck, and is just a temp replacement for the coat hanger that came with it... LOL Looking here it sounds like a lot of people relocate the battery to the trunk.... Also this car is for my wife, and she hates the seats.... She loves the seats in the 924, any chance they would fit?

Boy, did you make out like a bandit. A very nice car worth at least twice of what you paid for it. At least!!! Some one has to have the luck, why not you! Great find!

I would agree- you got a great deal. The 66 is my favorite car after the 67.5. The 7 gauge dash is the coolest of all the roadsters and the 66 has all that chrome.

The car looks to be in great shape. Enjoy it and I hope to see it at some future date!

Minh knows all about Porsche seats that fit, he had some real nice ones ready for his car.

You jumped right from coat hanger to bungee?! You missed the bailing wire and duct tape steps! After bungee are you going to move on to zip tie or skip directly to the real thing? Like I should talk, I made a custom tray for my battery and never finished the hold down and am still using a bungee to secure it!

I grew up on a farm and anything that couldn't be fixed with bailing wire was over the old farmers head and he would ask his neighbor for a fix...The neighbor was much better with the duct tape...

I'll give you another congrats on your purchase, looks to be a very nice car for the price. I have seen non-running cars with body and element damage sell for more...TR

Look at my latest heartbreak that hapened yesterday:

I called this fellow at 6:30am on the day this hit the paper. Someone from the publication saw the ad before it hit the paper, and they called someone who went over and bought it before the ad was published.

According to the seller, the car was mostly complete, and in good cosmetic condition. They only made appx 300 Corvettes in 1953 (all 6 cylinder engines) and a "fixer" in this kind of shape goes in the $60k-$80k range.

Anyway, that's a great looking roadster, and congratulations for finding such a nice car for that kind of money.

I am not sure about the 924, but I forget of all the models that interchange of the top of my head. The ones I have are from the 911. I sent that info to Steve a long time ago and have to dig up that stuff from either work or home. I remember the 911 and 944 are interchangble. These Porsches have flat tracks the sit on 4 bushing atop for large washers much like the Roadster. Just make sure the seats are around 19 inches wide.

If you call Porsche Heaven in the bay or Silver Star in Rancho Cordova (both Porsche salvage yards) and ask if the 924 and 911 seats are interchangle, you're good to go.
