what kind of Fender ?

Post by Bonk »

When i was working on my car today i noticed that my right side front fender had a larger flare on it than my left side.I guess the guy i bought this car off off must of put on the right side from a diffrent year? What are the diffrence's between them.I like the little larger flare as it fits the tires i put on it better so that means i need to find out what year that right side fender is front so i can macth it ..
any info would be most cool :)

There's probably something on this site, but I like the way the site below shows the model year differences...

http://www.datsun.org/roadster/info/mod ... fault.html

Most people don't notice their flares are different until someone points it out...

The 67.5 - 70 interchange except for the marker light. The 65 - 67 1600 fenders are the "medium" flare versions and the 1500 have the smallest flares. You may want to compare the rear fenders to see if they match as well....

Bonk-
I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Some P.O. had been in an accident, and I think the shop spec'd a fender for a '67, and installed an early 67 instead of the late 67 (67.5). I noticed it on the trailer coming home. Since I'm doing an autocross project and looks don't matter, I'm leaving it as is. Maybe sometime in the future...

I don't believe there are any differences between the 67.5 and the 68 fenders. They both are without driving lights.

Do't quote me though... I'm just hypothesising.

RE:Fender Differences

This is what I have on the main web site in the body section. I belive it to be 95% accurate.

"63-64 1500's are unique to themselves as are the 65-67 1600's. These fenders all have a small flare to them. The 67.5 & 68 fenders are identical and have a rather pronounced flare to them. I like the bigger flare personally. The 69's are the same but they have the tear drop shaped side light. The 70's are the same with the rectangular Z car style side lights. So, 67.5-70 are the same if you ignore the side lights."

A fender swapping party! Too bad they do not live closer together.

Nope. We both have the later fender on the right and the earlier fender on the left.

Unless your willing to wait and see what turns up on the Roadster sites "for sale," your local classifieds, Craig's List.org, Cars.com, vehix.com or EBay.com I suggest you call Beaver Creek, Mike Young or Mike Kerr.
