If you get some pics I'd like to take a look at those as well.
That may be an interesting prospect for a 67.5 1600 I might be picking for cheap with no motor.
I think all the Zetec's are FWD ( but don't quote me on that ) but the Sierra 5 spd trans from England bolt up pretty painlessly to make 'em RWD. I just might have to call some Ford saavy friends and get some measurements.
I'm actually an English Ford fan as well (racing a MKI Cortina with VARA) so I'm not too averse to bastardizing a not-so-clean 1600. (but I won't put any tags on though).

Only 108HP on the Dyno...
He must have done something wrong. The 2L Zetec cranks 135HP in the Focus. The same HP as the Nissan U20. There is no way a Focus can be lighter than a Roadster. Shame. The motor looks really nice under the hood
I would have never guessed to use a Merkur XR4Ti tranny. Those are extinct therefore impossible to get parts. I use to think Merkur XR4Ti looked really cool when they 1st came out.
But why would he use smaller disc rotors? Makes no sense unless he did the caliper conversion wrong too.
It's SPL311-08079. The radiator and dash does look like it belongs to a 1967 1600.

Dude he didn't do the conversion wrong..." Smaller" rotors means that he had to machine the overall diameter(just barely) so the calipers fit, remember that's a requirement fro the Volvo calieprs to work.
108hp at the wheels = roughly 135 at the crank accounting for driveline loss.
Also, you obviously do not realize that the U20 came from a car that is 35 years old. Do you really believe a U20 puts out 135hp because the ID badge says so???
Take a look at these modern/old engine dynos and you'll see the trend

All the literature from Nissan stated the fact, so actually I did.Anonymous wrote: Do you really believe a U20 puts out 135hp because the ID badge says so???

Neat car!
On the horsepower issue, keep in mind that back in the heady days of the 60's, the horsepower ratings were dyno ratings at the flywheel. Those engines were not installed in cars, so better exhaust was the norm for the ratings. The later ratings are as installed ratings.
I could have that all wrong, but that is what I have read. All that having been said, there is at least one Roadster running around with a stock U20 (stock as in B cam and solex carbs) - possibly with improved exhaust - that has posted what equates to about 200 HP at the flywheel. It was careful tuning that did the trick there...
I want to see someone swap in an S-20. NOT an SR-20, but an S-20 - it would be long, but it would look quite impressive!!

That is what I was told by a reliable source. I have not seen the car, but have heard about it.
The S-20 was used in the Z432. (That cleared up a lot of confusion now, didn't it?)

I think that it may have been flywheel - I will check and get back to you.
The Z432 is the Japanese home market version of the 240Z. It had 4 valves per cylinder, 3 Mikuni Solex carbs and 2 camshafts (hence 432...) Being a 6, it is really too long for a Roadster, but it would look neat!
Rumor has it that another rare engine exists in the hands of a collector in Japan. He has a "UY" motor. It is the engine that was used in the 1600S that was raced in Japan in 1966.

Pretty cool esoteric stuff there...
