Hats

Post by NiceGuyInSanJose »

I was having a discussion with a lady friend today about what kind of hat was appropriate to wear while driving a Roadster (yes, for those of us who are follically challenged, this is an issue).

The suggestions so far were:

1. a mesh "trucker's hat" with Datsun Logo from eBay.
2. A baseball hat from a favorite sports team (the SF Giants in my case).
3. a floppy leather hat of the "Indiana Jones" variety.
4. The silly looking tweed hats worn by drivers of old Jaguars.

Please give an opinion... and if you have any other suggestions, speak up !!

No problem-I moved it. I too am follically challenged. I usually wear a baseball cap but also like the floppy camoflauged<SP> hat I picked up while in the service. It provides more protection from the sun than a baseball cap. Wear what ever you are comfortable with.

What is a mesh truckers cap? Is that like a ball cap?

I kind of like those silly looking tweed caps (yes, I have a Jaguar too, but it is not too old 1991 - but I only wear the cap in the Roadster.) I have a custom embroidered ball cap that a buddy of mine had made while he was in Korea - I wear it too. There is no need for a cap in the sedans....

How's about just a leather skull cap for or skull bandana. Less likely to get blown off easily sotred in the glove box.

Shave our head bald and use SPF 50. :)

What hat/cap did I wear in my Roadster? None. What I did was to keep my hair short enough to not stab me in the eyes, then just let it blow to it's heart's content. There was nothing to blow away with an errant blast of wind from a truck passing by on the other side of the road.

Since I fall in this category, I can tell this joke. When you're losing your hair in front, you're a thinker. When you're losing your hair on top, you're a lover. When they meet, then you just think you're a lover. I crack me up.

Here's my two cents worth!

The perfect lid for driving a Datsun Roadster is:

A Full Face SA2000 Nomex Lined Helmet

The better to take turns with my dear and the best to keep grit outta your teeth

Nice Russel. Thats a racer for you. For me, personally, I wear a cycling hat from time to time, it won't blow off, usually on backward. The rest of the time I wear a baseball hat, but those will fly?

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!
