Added too much oil, how bad is it?

Post by bespa »

First of all this didn't happen to my roadster, but to my other car (name witheld).

I heard that it's bad, but what's bad about it. Has anyone ever done this? I just had to go to this cheap oil changer on Stockton Blvd. and I didn't really bother to check it until I drove it 800 miles, LA and back, then realized it's half an inch higher than the allowed visual area on the stick. I rechecked a few more times....
Thanks yall.

It can blow out oil seals. Bring it back to them and have them take a quart out - most of those places have a vacuum like deal that can such oil out through the dip stick tube.

That's probably not too bad (1/2" on the dipstick), but any higher and you can "froth" the oil and start pumping air bubbles instead of oil...

At least that is what I have been told...TR

Maybe it's not that bad after all, I still will find a place to suck it up though. Thanks guys.
