I wouldn’t leave it in for days … at least without checking it daily. I left some screws in vinegar and used an aluminum can with the top cut off… I forgot about them for days and the vinegar ate through the can.

While yours doesn’t look great, I think you can clean it up pretty quickly. I would also do a quick rinse after the vinegar to dilute it or even use a bit of baking soda.

I had to soak the fuse box in my 411 for several days. I checked it each day and put in fresh vinegar. Yes, rinse it with water, scrub it with baking soda to neutralize the vinegar, then rinse off the baking soda. Might have to repeat until there's no reaction from the baking soda. Then let it dry thoroughly.

I rinsed the fuse box thoroughly, and then put it in some Evaporust for another hour. It looks much better.

I put it back into SPL311-00054 with new stainless screws.

I'm happy to report that the oil pressure and fuel gauges are now working. I'm guessing the temperature gauge is working too, but I can't get her up to temperature in the enclosed garage.

Still not working - The clock, the headlights, the fog lights, and heater. The tail lights, front amber lights, and license plate light do work on position 1 of the light switch. Position 2 still gets nothing.

I am willing to call this progress!

Can I get some advise on troubleshooting the clock, headlights, fog, and heater (I don't really need the heater though)?

Are you sure you got the wires all back on the right terminals?

I never pulled the wires from the toggle switches, so they should be correct. The headlights definitely were working from the switch before the dash was pulled.

Check the harness plugs at the firewall then. Check for wires knocked off the switch.

Updated observations.

Turn signals work, front and back!

When ypu move the LIGHTS switch from position 1 to 2 there is an audible click under the hood. At that point the rear lights and front Amber's turn off.

On a 66 when you turn on headlights the park lights go off. Only work on first position.

There's limited things in the headlight circuit. Fuse box, switch, firewall plug, relay. I would be wary of the switch first. You can check first at the fuse box for power on the red wire. Then for power in the same wire at the switch. If there is power I would then jumper the red wire to the red/yellow wire. If that doesn't work then go to the plugs.

Based on your fuse box plug terminals could be crusty too.

Driver sidewall in engine bay towards front. 4 terminals on a small metal box.

Major progress today!

Fog and Parking lights.

Fog and Headlights.

Headlights alone.

I also got the Bluetooth Audio system up and running, along with replacing the battery cable ends with quick release adapters.

Thanks for all the tips and advice.

BTW, the Headlights ended up being an ID10T error. The pigtails from the Headlights to the engine bay had both been disconnected, but I don't recall unplugging them after testing the LED Headlights. They definitely work better when they are plugged in!

I no longer feel any sympathy for you after seeing those garage pics, Ed.

How about a pic of your new quick release battery cable adapters.

And what about the gauges? All working now?
