Low Windshield long axis CG for rotisserie?

I previously made a rotisserie using two engine stands, but I identified some major deficiencies in my design so I am making a new one.

On my old one, I know my axis of rotation was a bit off from the CG, but since I also did not have the rotation axis of the engine stands aligned properly, its hard to tell where I was off.

I was wondering if any of you had a good idea where in relation to the body should I have the axis of rotation go through to get a good smooth full rotation.

Car is fully stripped, no doors, but has a triangulated support brace installed (not very heavy)

I’m also in the planning stages of a budget rotisserie. Though I’m thinking wood all the way with engine stands. I really just need to get to the underside for stripping and rust repair

I believe I know what you are asking. I just took mine 68 off of the rotisserie (I know, high windshield). I borrowed a very upscale rotisserie and was able to fine tune the CG such that I could easily rotate it myself with one hand. Some caveats, My front fenders, glass, doors, hood and trunk lid were removed. I found the CG to be about 1/3rd of the way up the license plate area and about 1/3rd of the way up the grill area. I hope this helps to get you close.

I made a tipping jig to clean the undercoat from my bottom. Apparently the posting doesn't like my portrait photos and turns them sideways.

I like the tipping jig. Thats kinda what Im thinking. But i would love to build the Nissanmans set up

I’m ready for my tip over jig, and am looking at your jig. I’m curious where you attach to the tub, it looks like you’ve gone with the floor mount locations? Also did you get some flex in the tub? I see straps wrapped around the engine compartment. Thanks for any help ahead of time.

I put 4x4 pieces on the side of the jig with studs on the end to bolt to the body frame holes. Front and back are different heights. If you want to be a bit patient I can drag it out and take pictures and measurements. The steel support rod are required. I would suggest a brace running between the two angle pieces. I found mine after a few tipping wanted to twist to the side.

The strap is to tip it up and down with the engine hoist.

Can't tell you if the body flexed. I suppose they flex a little. Mine bolted just fine to the frame. What I did find on both cars that the middle body mounts in the engine bay had to be pulled down a bit to the frame. Only one was on the jig.
