Does anyone know where I can Find an ITG Air Filter?
I have been looking for an ITG filter for a while, I can't seem to find one anyplace. I know they have a filter that works with solexs, I just cant get my hands on one. My K&Ns just don't flow enough air at 6000 rpm. It weels like the car is pushing a strong headwind above that. I know its the filter as I tried running it with no filters and it wasn't a problem. TWM Induction is no longer importing them.
Thanks,
Will

I hate dealing with Dean. The guy just rubs me the wrong way. I guess I still have to give him a call to get some valve springs for my other head (I guess he has the best ones). Ill look into the lace it Long beach. DO you know the part # for the one that fits the solexs?
Thanks,
Will

If my memory serves me...
Stan Chernof sells a reusable foam air filter for the stock air filter assembly for $60.
I forget who made it but it isn't K&N.

You can use a JC50 or JC52 (I think). the 50 is the one with the rectangular cross section and the 52 is the half round filter. I used the 52 - seemed like it would give better clearance around the master cylinders. 50mm air horns are the most that will fit under either. If you want bigger than that you need to use individual foam socks instead. Dean is the only one I know of who has/had predrilled backing plates for the solex's. I cut and drilled a blank backing plate to fit. It's a pain in the ass to do but...
On the air horns, it's a real rubic's cube to put together. I have to put the backing plate on, slide the filter halfway under the backing plate and then feed each air horn in from the front and work it to it's place over each throat. then, with two fingers and great care, put the lock washer and nut on the top stud only of each air horn. Drop one nut and start the whole process over again. There's no way to put the air horns on first and fit the filter over them (unless you cut up the inner fender).

Brian,
The first roadster that I worked on had and ITG and the medium (stock) mikuni velocity stacks and was a little bit of a pain to install them. The filter its self wasn't that big of a deal. Using Locktite, lock washers and nylock bolts are definetly the only way to go as things can rattle loose and get sucked into an engine. I have seen first hand what happens with this, not pretty. Thanks for the part #s.
On another note, I saw that you are running Total Seal piston rings, do you have a part # and how much were they?
Thanks,
Will

Hey Will,
I answered that question a whiles back. The answer is at the very bottom.

FYI: If your current running piston rings are fine or pretty new you could just order either the top or middle gapless ring. You can't have top and middle gapless simultaneous. The tech-sales-guy told me only one of the two rings can be gapless at anytime.

Piston rings
I need to re ring the whole thing, as well as hone the cylinders as well. The car goes pretty well now, but burns oil. I am starting to collect some pretty trick internal parts for the rebuild. I figure since I have it apart, I might as well have some fun with it. Ok, I might bend some SCCA rules as far as internal mods, but I have to be good enough to win before anyone is going to protest. (This might be a bad attitude, but hot street engines are cool.) I doug up a pretty cool cylinder head that I might use (lets just say it should breath really well).
