67.5 Steering Column Locking Pin
If anyone has a 67.5 steering column loose out of the car I'd like to see how the steering wheel locking pin works. I'm thinking the spear has a notch in it.
I just found that the 280ZX ignition switch is the same diameter as the 67.5 column. With a minor mod if you're desperate for a switch you could use this. Looks different but it is only $50 or $60 for a complete new one.

You can see here the mod you would need to make. The pin on the ZX switch is square at the ends.

Re: 67.5 Steering Column Locking Pin
Good find. Iirc, there's a blind hole drilled in the death spear. Filing the pin to match would be the answer in my mind

Sorry, don't have a disassembled setup.
But, Steve's write up on the switch worked well on my 67.5 2000. All worked with the steering lock, Don't recall whether it required a file down of the pin. Been running the replacement switch for 5+ years.

I used that switch in my car with no mods and everything works as it should.

Thanks, I think Steve might have told me about it but CRS syndrome sets in. Still would like to see the column for my education.
Probably going to try to put the new one on the girl's ZX today when she comes over to put on her collector plate.

Re: 67.5 Steering Column Locking Pin
I also put a ZX switch assembly into my 67.5, no mods required at all. I bought an entire ZX column from ebay and I measured both spears and the notch in both were the same size. But to make it more challenging I replaced the assembly with the column still in the car. A flexible drill extension was very handy.

I replaced the switch assembly in a 1983 ZX today for my 'daughter'.

Re: 67.5 Steering Column Locking Pin
No need to drill out the snap off bolts in ignition switch. We use a small chisel and hammer and gently reverse them out.
