Anyone Taller Than Me?

Post by Revbang »

I'm 6'3". When I bought my first roadster back in 1975. I didn't know then, but I do now that it was a 67 1/2 1600. I bought it partly because I fit much better than in other sports cars I had looked at.

My current roadster had a hardtop originally when I got it. My head would touch the roof. When I changed to a soft top I got about 2" more headroom. I know now that the later roadsters have 2" more headroom still, but I love the dash and the lower windshield early cars. I put in 69 seats with headrests to have some of the best of both worlds.

I'm I the tallest roadster driver out there :?: How tall are you guys? Mark

I have a friend who drives a 67.5 2000 who is 6'4". Its kinda funny to see. I'm 6 foot. I want a low windshield car, but all I see is the top of the windshield frame.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

When I had my windshield off and driving my car to be painted my wife said I looked like a shriner driving their little go cart. I was not amused.

I'm 6 foot and the 69-70 I've owned fit me just dandy. The record as far as I can guess would be my cousin who is 6' 7" driving the 69 he had. Come to think of it though, we were usually racing around with the top down most of the summers. I always marveled at how he could get in and out of the car, let alone drive it so well, what with those big size 16 feet crammed down there

I don't know how anyone could drive with size 16 shoes! If I go for a quick drive in anything but sneakers, I have trouble with my shoe hitting the brake when I am trying for the gas!

I'm 6-1 and drive a low windshield car. I moved the seats back till they touch the luggage pad. It makes for a comfortable position, not sure if you could race in that position, though...TR

Just so it is out there...

You can lower the seat by about an 1 1/2 if you remove the spacer block underneath seats four bolt posts.

If you do get rid of them.. Can I have em, please? :)

I need them to RAISE my seats up. The Porsche seats are about 2-2 1/2 inches lower than the stock seats.

and only wear 32" length jeans, so ALL BACK is not the preferred driver proportion.
I wanna know what Porsche seats are lower, (914?) cuz I want them. My Honda seats measured the same as stock seats, but are firmer, so they raised me ~1-1/5". So, back to stock for me.
But, when you are grinning so big, you can't complain.

Fergy,

As per Mihn---All Porsche seats that fit 911 and 944 with or without power, will fit with minor modification (and maybe wiring to power the motors) It is listed on the parts interchange section.

They are both lower and firmer. Yet still comfortable...

I have the Sport seats. They include the side lumbar support as the non-sport don't.
