RE:Taillight Quiz

Post by S Allen »

Stephen Getty sent me a picture of the rear of his nice looking sora blue project and asked me if I had ever seen any lights like these. Where the reflectors usually go are lights with Everwing markings. Are these maybe European spec? Take a look here http://www.311s.org/PublicPics/taillights.jpg

Anyone?

For one thing he is missing one of the reverse lights.

I am guessing you are asking about the licene plate lights. If so, you got me. This is question that can be best answered by our freind in Norway. 8)

Mihn,

I am talking about the lights that are above the taillights where the reflectors usually go. Those are ligts not reflectors. 8)

Most roadsters came with only one reverse light for the US market. The early frames (pre 67.5) only have one set of holes. The two pair of lights appeared some time in 69 iirc.

The marker type lights instead of reflectors is interesting. I will have to dig through the parts book.

To my knowledge and experience the light arrangement on the US and Euro cars only differ in the colour of the flashing directional lamp, which is yelow here. The wiring harness is the same and i have never seen any distribution for a third set of rear lights (on the low windshield).
Check the harness, if it has been modified this is a fake tailight arangement.

I have not checked on this issue yet, but I am aware that there was a different taillight assembly for the French market cars. It had a secondary bulb in the taillight housing. The housings and lenses were the same. Whenever I get a chance to do more research, I will post...

Well, I believe Stephen has solved his own mystery. He thinks they are side marker lights from a 1969 roadster. I think he is right.
