Is a 2 ton jack strong enough for the roadster?

The entire car weighs a little over 1 ton. I think you would be fine with a 2 ton.

Try to get one that is lower profile jack. Your car is lower so a tandard 2-ton will be hard to get uner the frame.

It would not be bad to get a jack stand too. It is mechanical safety to have a backup support in the jack slips. :shock: Just be carefull where you make contact with thelift plate and car. Make sre it is a SOLID spot that won't cause any damage or compress any seals.

A few years back (when I used to VW) my freind was trying to repalce an accelerator cable. He had lifted the car up on a lousy piston jack. He was under it. It slipped and landed on his chest. It really hard for the 4 of us to lift the rear end up while laughing at his dumb ass. He was alright.

I can still picture is high pitched bitch scream, "Help!" and his feet kicking trying to lift it off his own chest. Ah memories... 8)
