Hello everyone
I'm the happy and proud owner of this little 311. As a matter of fact Richard was there (car belonged to his neighbor) when I got delivery of the car today. Very knowledgeable gentleman and very willing to help out. Several little things need attention. I will post more details later on. This little bugger keeps growing on me!

Welcome Alex. Wow, how our extended family is growing! It's great that more and more people are finding us when they become owners, or discover the internet! Nothing but support here. The cars will grow on you and before long they often reproduce themselves all over the garage, so keep that in mind!

Welcome. Be sure to add the car to the Registry if it isn't there already.

Wow- what a warm welcome!!! I may have spent a total of 10 minutes with Richard. No mention of SEROC- I will be doing some more reading on this board.
I updated the registry with this car. It's SPL311-03937 not sure why the instructions said SPL311-123456 only have 5 digits.
OK couple of interesting notes:
a) no driver seat belts ?!
b) what's with everyone filling compelled to come and talk to you or stare ? I hadnt owned the roadster one hour and already had 3 or 4 folks asking me questions at each stop I made. Will get some used to it
c) insurance is ridiculous cheap. I'm with hagertys for under $200 / year for a $10k value + comprehensive & collision. Is this about right?
d) I plan on going around the car and start fixing etc while keeping enjoying it each opportunity I get. Best place to get replacement parts?
e) any advise, recommendations etc, feel free to shoot away. I'm here to stay. I'm here to learn.

I plan to read more these forums, FAQs etc, but if you help me save time thank you in advance. Tomorrow I will try to get it titled in SC. I called the DMV earlier who insured me would not be any issue although I don't have a title signed over, just previous registration and bill of sale. That's not what I read on the forums but DMV lady at central said bring paperwork in no problem. This is what decided me to finally move forward and buy it... I will keep you updated.
Oh, and to the moderators, please move this thread where never you feel its best suited... thank you all in advance ! 8)

There should be seat belts. They are easy to find, but if you plan to drive it, I suggest getting new ones.
Get used to the paparazzi! You are now a celebrity!!
Yes, Hagerty is great.
When you need parts, ask here. A lot of the vendors are on here. Steve has a link to the vendor's sites too. Plus, there are lots of spare parts hiding in peoples garages.
Advise? Enjoy the ride! Don't take it apart or plan any in depth restore until you have driven it a while.

immediate things needed for 1966 Roadster in SC

Post by Alex P »

Did a quick look around this evening. Right of the bat I'm going to need
a) to be able to title it so I can drive it legally in SC (hopefully tomorrow!)
Then...
b) shifter boot
c) driver's seat belt (according to prev. owner came as such from factory and added himself passenger seat belt for his kids)
d) front fog lights
e) the vertical "parts" on front and rear bumpers
f) low windshield
g) second key set (doors, as, engine, trunck...)

Original owner states did provide me with most, what a super nice fellow!

Anyone have any of these in super nice condition laying around their place and willing to part with?
Lmk
Thank you again for the super warm welcome! :smt006

You're welcome! Yep, really good people here. Love the fact that so many people have already approached you about the car. Indeed, do get used to it, and expect to hear their own stories of having owned one, driven one, or had the most fun in a car ever!
