DBrick,
Thanks!!! Is that a mechanical fuel injection system?
Will, I found some info on that...
http://www.vlvworld.com/index.html?200/Production.htm
2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, 1969-1975 Volvo 240 (B20)
B20E: fuel injection, high compression version
B20F: fuel injection, low compression version sold in the USA
2.1 liter, 4 cylinder, 1976-1985 Volvo 240 (B21)
B21E: fuel injection, high compression version
B21F: fuel injection, low compression version sold in the USA
B21ET, B21FT: fuel injection TURBO charged version
2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, 1985-1995 Volvo 240 (B200)
B200E: fuel injection high compression version
Is that a mechanical or electronic fuel injection.

Found it... It's a "Bosch K-Jet mechanical fuel injection"
http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/~amh110/T ... ersion.htm
Therefore, I am guessing it will require adapting the Volvo distributor that controls the fuel injection timing too. I could be wrong; I'm am absolutely guessing here becuase the only mechanical fuel injection I have ever seen was on a 3 cylinder diesel crawler.
Also the lower compression setups were designed for lower octane fuel for US markets.

No, nothing in the distributor. It is constant injection, the injectors don't pulse. There is an airflow sensor in the fuel distributor that looks like a toilet float that moves with the airflow and varies the volume and pressure of the fuel. It does get feedback from an O2 sensor, but is mostly controlled by airflow. Volkswagon and Audi used it too. You can tell because there are no wires going to the injectors. If you were to do it, I'd get a running wreck and play with it intact first. People crash Volvos all the time. I used to work for a Volvo dealer, they are the worst drivers, which is why they bought a volvo in the first place. I think they used this up to 84 on non turbo and to 85 on turbo. Bonus, while your at it, steal all the brake parts out of the car and convert to Volvo calipers.

i was looking at turboing my r16 engine..i have a guy that builds turbos manifolds anf such..he has a single carb turbo set up. i just have to get either a custom intake done or just make something to go over the stock intake..its is easy to do on this car..exhaust and intake are on the same side..not alot of piping!!! we'll see...since i just got my car and have driven it 2 miles before the headgasket went..have to see what up with the motor..may have to build a stroker!!! then turbo it..
just bought a fiberglass hood of ebay.(flat no scoop) i see a custom scoop being adapted..any ideas?

Heres a crazy idea. Have the hoodscoop deliver fresh cold air to the carb.
Crazy becuase the original hood scoop was used to help redirect air going through the radiator.
As you already know, the original carbs (dual SU and quad throught Solex) were meant to help deliver more air flowing to the engine than a single carb. So, you might want to consider that in the carb selection.
If turbo, there are a lot of other things too. Reducing compression, timing retardation, engine heat control, head bolts, finding new torque settings, radiant heat control around the manifolds, etc....

You could put a NACA type duct for air intake to the carbs, and then a scoop to let hot air out at the back of the hood
