UPS Simple Rate Shipping Review

Post by ted heaton »

UPS Simple Rate Shipping Review.
UPS introduced this economical flat rate service about 3 months ago.
About the same cost as USPS flat rate boxes but more flexible in that box size and rate is determined by cubic inches.
Any box size as long as it fits. Max size is 1728 CI, so a box 17x10x10" would be OK.
Even a long skinny box that could hold a crank (50 lbs max) is OK. Only $21.75 ground.
My recent shipment of a diff to California from Seattle would have been about $38 (account rate) using FedEX.
BUT this service is not quite ready for Prime Time.
It is currently only available online and if you have any problems, NOBODY knows anything about it.
UPS Stores do not know it exists!
It will be rolled out to the stores sometime.
It does require a UPS account to get the posted rates.Without an account the rates are about $4 higher.

How is it for shipping stuff to Canada? I've got a big box of chrome I need to ship to Victoria Plating.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

I'd be interested in this info as well. But, UPS "international" shipping is crazy expensive.
