Harlan:

I'm sure you have plenty of out-of- pocket expenditures for the show that ypu are now on the hook for. I, for one, don't expect or want a refund from you.

I was most definitely looking forward to going this year and especially my drive down the coast through Big Sur. But on the bright side this gives more time to all those who might not have had their cars ready in time to make the show and for everyone else to install those upgrades they’ve wanted to squeeze in....I look forward to an unprecedented level of competition across every category next year!

My 67 was the 67th registration...was feeling good karma...sorry not to see everyone. Thanks Harlan! It would have been awesome because of you!

I have two cleaner cars than they were a few weeks ago. Parts are at chrome and powder coat shops. Hoping nothing gets lost...Princess is getting new kicks with bling and Pumpkin gets a shiny luggage rack and stainles bumpers. All dressed up and no where to show...

Semi off topic but we just went through the cancellation of a two month trip to Germany and Italy. It was all self booked and one of the lessons we learned is to wait until the airlines cancelled the flights. The message was that if we were "afraid" to travel to Italy, it was on us but if the flight no longer existed because the airline cancelled it, they would pay. I don't know if that would work with domestic flights but it might be worth looking at.

A bit of humor in it all. The Italian train system was very nice and said no problem about a refund, all we had to do was go to the nearest Italian train station and ask.

I was putting off registration to see if I could drive my roadster up this year instead of my Z. Ironically, due to the quarantine issue I've been getting a lot more done on the roadster than expected, and I probably could have gotten it on the road in a temporary condition before the show. Hopefully by next year I'll go from "cancer patient" to "fully recovered".

It is amazing. Especially since it is sealed up and spot welded closed.
I've had this car for almost 30 years but maybe the PO took it on desert ralleys.

April is the month that our beloved Solvang Datsun Roadster Show is held. Since this year's show is postponed I'll be posting images/memories from past shows. I will miss the friends, family and cars from my favorite annual classic car show!

Anyone up for a virtual car show the day on the 24th? Either just a picture of your car/ project or a quick 30 second video. We can either host it on a new thread or on a facebook group....Gives us all a good excuse to get the car out from the garage.

Great idea. NEW thread.

Harlan might need this thread to announce something, so let’s not clutter it and have the info get lost ( a pet peeve).
Still feeling bad for Harlan who worked so hard for the show!

And I vote this forum, since many are not on Facebook. Can do both though actually.

Fun Fact: 2003 was the first year the show was held in downtown Solvang! Prior events were at Nojoqui Falls Park.

The Solvang show would be held this Saturday 4/25. Around this time, everyone would be preparing cars and planning trips. For me, it's almost a ritual. A pilgrimage.
Way more than just a car show. From the butterflies in my stomach as I approach that roadster-lined street early morning...to simply placing a name to a face with fellow owners...I love this show.
Here's to the friendships made and good times, anxiously awaiting the next event!
