Spare tire hold down bolt

Post by theunz » Sat Jul 06, 2019 3:32 pm

Hey guys (and gals) i'm down to the nitty gritty and trying to tie up the loose ends. Somehow along the way I lost my jack base/spare tire hold down and the special bolt that holds it down. I was able to get a nice jack base from Ted, but no luck on the bolt :( so if anyone has a decent bolt for sale I'm interested. Don't care what condition the threaded portion is in as I think I'll have to extend it anyway. As long as the top is not all pitted or bent and the rubber (at least I think I remember it being rubber covered) is in good shape I can work with it. Shoot me a PM if you can help. Thanks, Mike

Mike I think I have what you need. Yours for the cost of shipping.

Thank you for the generous offer, but I already have one on the way, sans rubber unfortunately. I had a couple of offers and neither had rubber either. Maybe my memory fails me (extremely likely) and there never was any rubber.

Your memory is not failing you, they had a rubber cover. What I think you could do with it, is dip in black rubber coating that you can buy at most hardware stores. It would not look perfect but it would be ok until you find an original rubber cover.

Thanks for the picture Dan. I didn't remember them having the "Datsun" on them. Is that from your 64? The wheel is different than my 69, and it uses the jack base as the spacer.

No problem, your post sparked my interest so I had 5o peer under the tire cover to see haha. Yes all parts are (presumably) original 1964 spl310 parts. Except the tire which I've also realized needs to be replaced asap. The date code on the tire is from 1989!

The 1500 said Datsun. Later ones were plain rubber

Mike,

If still available, I need the jack base for the jack I just restored for my 68.
thanks, David
