I’m not looking forward to putting it back in. I’m going to meditate for a few hours before I attempt. Good thing I have 5 months of winter to figure it out

That looks great. I need to do my own but I'm hoping for a few more weeks of driving weather before the gold barchetta goes into the cocoon for the winter. Beautiful work.
Two weeks ago, Rob (vorpal) took some time out from working on his 67.5 to assist with my car. The week prior we installed new differential gasket in his car. This time, we installed a 3:70 with all new bearings into my 68, 2000. While in there we repacked the outer axel bearings as best we could, new diff gasket, fresh diff oil. The 3:90 was whining pretty bad, and I was looking for a bit friendlier highway gearing. Mission accomplished! Went in without a hitch. No leaks after a week of driving . No whining by me or my diff. After completing the datsun, we spent the rest of the day working on a fellow Z car club members 300zx turbo.

I spent some time working on my 66 today. I just purchased it in April and drove it home. Went on vacation and today was the first chance to really spend some time to start the "to do list".
I did the 3rd oil change on the rebuilt motor. 15W40 with ZDDP additive.
Checked the timing. Not sure if the vacuum advance is working. Seems like there is only 15 degrees of advance. I'll look at that tomorrow.
Checked the balance between the carbs. They were way off. Not going to do anymore adjustments until I know that the distributor is working correctly.
Got the front end up in the air to look at the brakes. Both fronts are leaking. Some from the metal line fittings and some from the cylinders. The previous owner said that they had a difficult time getting the lines installed after having the cylinders rebuilt. There was a bag of various loose brake line fittings in the spare parts. There also doesn't seem like there is much clamping force. I will check to see if they swapped the inner and outer cylinders tomorrow.
Looked at the convertible top. Seems too tight. There is a gap along the top center of the windshield and a gap under the trailing edge between the two hold downs. The drivers side vent window seems too tall. The drivers window also rolls up higher than the passenger side. PO may have used an incorrect vent window. The latch is Satin finished not shiny like the passenger side. Maybe the entire door is incorrect?
I'll post pictures and questions in separate threads.
