Pulled the engine in preparation for the new timing components and transmission rebuild. While removing the flywheel so it can be replaced with an aluminum one I discovered a broken bolt, so some unexpected fun in store. I had already ordered new ones before I pulled the engine, looks like I should of done them last time the motor was out

While I had a nice of gauges fully restored by Jon I've never been crazy about the black bezels on the 67.5.
So I decided to try my hand at cleaning my original gauges and finish them to my taste
The two large gauges were painstakingly opened to clean the internal glass and face , then polished and cleared I didn't remove the glass from the bezel because I didn't want to lose the seal but in hindsight I should have , they would have bee nicer even
Speedo

Tach

for the combo gauges I sanded them down to remove all traces of rust and sent them to have them painted wit Cosmichrome , and finally for the clock I was able to make one good working one out of several donors I had on hand ,
Combo gauges

Final results

I'm running around all of Denver picking up some glass and some trim. I am probably getting a little ahead of myself, as I've not even finished cleaning all the debris out of the car yet! I won't let myself open up the hood to get to the engine until I have gotten everything else cleaned up.

I started buying and accumulating parts 3 years before I even found and bought my first roadster

Hah! My wife would kill me. Last car was a 75 Bronco Bronco Edition and that was fun, so I am really looking forward to this. Now I need to find a driver side wing window.

Professionally done similar to automotive paint but requires specialized equipment and expertise

Wow, that is beautiful. I'm think of silver with that color interior, but I've not settled yet.

The Car looks Great! I love the Chrome Ringed front turn signals on the '68 to early '69s. My current car has the Late "ringless" turn signals that in my opinion look like some cheap light fixtures found at a Auto-zone at the last minute to get a car ready to go to a hot date !!
The chrome ring lights have "Class"

put some disc brake quiet on the pads. Been ignoring a very annoying wheel chirp for too long (goes away with tiniest bit of brake pressure). We'll see if it works.

Picked up a top, horn button, and some other goodies in Vancouver. Now to get the car out and enjoy some of this sunny day!

What year and model is the Corvair? My first car was 63 Spyder.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.
