Oil change day...trying to tackle leaks from the filter adapter, distributor oil fitting, drain plug, and the little oil pressure sensor.
Someone went full gorilla bashing the oil filter adapter at some point which damaged the sealing surface. Thinking if the current one doesnt seal I may try to flatten it out with JB weld.

Put a tiny bit of Right Stuff in the damaged area, seems to have sealed it up. Still have a pretty substantial leak from either the front trans seal, rear main or possibly rear of the oil pan though.
Got my heater working too...switch wasn't plugged in and needed a good cleaning.

Before you decide it's a rear main, check the seals for the tach cable in the distributor mount. There is a kit for that on Dean's site. My oil pressure sender leaks a drop or two and I have been unable to stop it... it's internal and not the threads. I'm a fan of the Permatex product that is the equivalent to the Toyota sealer that's out there as a very light gasket dressing. Used a very small amount to dress the gaskets and they have sealed really well, unlike with silicone.

Well I went from the iraqi oil fields on the left to 'only' the right.Gregs672000 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 22, 2021 11:45 am Before you decide it's a rear main, check the seals for the tach cable in the distributor mount. It seems to be a dripping from the lowest point of the bell housing.

Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)
cbez, it is going to pretty much always drip from the lowest point of the bell housing no matter where the leak is. My last leak was an oil gallery plug on the back of the head. I just couldn't get a good look at the sides of the bell housing where I needed to, but I could trace the oil track coming down the side of the bell housing. By wiping and running, running and wiping, I could tell that it wasn't coming out of the hole.

Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)
Agreed ^. I've had both a false rear main that was the tach cable, and my current true rear main seal leak. I've decided that on this one it's just not worth the effort of pulling the whole damn thing again, and I have no confidence on trying to do it without removing the crank and trying to BS a repair in place while risking a bearing surface, etc. I hate oil leaks, but it's not horrible. I've never tried any of those engine stop leak oil additives... heck, all the seals are new! Anyone?

Thanks guys. I am planning to trace it more for sure. It helps that the engine overall is pretty clean and dry.
I got my door latch fixed, I think, by jerry rigging some springs. No more self-locking or banging around when driving like I'm smuggling baking sheets in there. Valves all pretty much checked out too. Should have checked head bolts while I was in there.

New tires! Hankook Kinergy. The old ones were so old they didn't even have a date code.
I also made door caps.
