Way to go Pat. I drove by it on Hwy 12 this year but didn't have the time to drive up and down.

On Sunday went for my usual "loop" drive. Before the loop took the kids around the block. When I was a kid my Dad would let me "drive" while sitting on his lap...so each kid had their turn "driving" the roadster.
Everyone had fun and they even got to see their Mom on her evening walk:

It wasn't all smiles when we got back to the house...apparently I had interrupted their chores so they got into trouble  Totally worth it to this Dad though!

Last day of Summer drive out into the countryside this evening. 125 km loop. Gotta take advantage of the last great top down driving days. Spectacular fall colours are starting.

Mitch and I went on a 100 mile spin through Maple Ridge and Mission on Canadian Thanksgiving. Nice cool fall weather. Checked out Stave Falls. Picture taken by my co-pilot Sue

Hey, great to see you posting your drive with Mitch Ross! We had really had hoped to come see some of my Canadian brothers this summer, but damn covid killed that. And now my passport has expired...
Send my Greetings to all the Bombers... so much to catch up on.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Tuesday. 10-12-21. 65 miles.
First roadster drive from my Borrego Springs vacation rental.
Nice uncrowded fast roads. Sunny, Clear, Mid 70's.
Hwy S-22 west ascends over 3000'. 12+ miles of curves.

Ted.

Saturday Cruising with my brother up HWY 9 to visit Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It's been a year since the CZU fires burned through the Santa Cruz mountains. HWY 236 into the park was lined with scorched Redwoods with (to our surprise) new basal growth and in the canopy.
Thanks to my brother for capturing the drive up 9 and through Big Basin:

It may never look the same (in our lifetime) but we savored the calmness of falling leaves and grandeur of the ancient forest. Lots of good memories camping and hiking here with my family and friends.

From the 236/9 junction we headed down into Boulder Creek and home via Bear Creek Rd:

Thanks for the drives guys! When my wife does videos we end up with a fair amount of wind noise... how do you guys deal so effectively with that? Great road Alvin... hopefully it will continue to recover. It's hard to see places you love and enjoy be destroyed. The mushroom hunter in me sees the silver lining however, as one of my favorite mushrooms, morels, tend to show up a couple years after a forest fire, as they process the organic material and compounds left over and released by the fire. Was also nice to see that California drivers actually use their rear view mirrors and pull outs... not so much with many drivers in Washington.

Wind noise is the bane of car video capture. I don't know what the best solution is, other than keeping the recording device behind glass. A GoPro is much better at wind noise suppression, but I still think it can be improved. It's one of those things that's a Panadora's Box to me...use an iphone or get a real SLR/dedicated microphone for better quality car video.

Yes, more often than not we see drivers use the pullouts on this road (HWY9), but occasionally there are folks that won't  We were in no rush just Enjoying The Ride so the road rage was kept at a minimum

Ted!
On RCMike's recommendation, we visited Anza Borrego on the way to our rental in Palm Springs! Super jealous you got to take the roadster through 22.

Amazing! That drive isn't far from me, I've had fun on that road even in my 4Runner, so I can't wait to cruise that in my Roadster someday. Did you see any Bighorn sheep? That's always a treat for me, and so if I get stuck behind slow drivers, I pull over and glass the mountains for them until I get some runway ahead of me again.

Those trees look so cool with the trunk growth, and as sad as fires can be, I've seen first-hand how very good they can be for the ecosystem. In a few years I hope it will be healthier and well on the way to a beautiful recovery for our kids. Oh, and for Greg and his 'shrooms. :smt119

Passing – That is not my experience here in CA. I had to rub my eyes and rewind 3 times to confirm that I was seeing people pull over to let Alvin pass!!!

Helps a bit if you cover microphone area with foam or a material with long fibres, faux fur. Helps somewhat. I have a gopro and in place a thin piece of foam between the camera body and the acrylic clear case. Helps.
