Roll Bar

Post by Ralph »

My 93-year-old dad just called. He told me in no uncertain terms to go and buy myself a roll bar.

I have a 1968 and will install Miata seats. So if someone has a roll bar out there that would be a fit please let me know.

(Shheeesh….. I feel like a teenager again)

If nothing turns up in the next week or so, stay tuned for a request for specs to have one fabricated

Before you commit to buying a roll bar do a search. There are pro’s and con’s to them.

Ralph,

Contact Ross at Sports Imports. According to him, all Canadian 2000s had the oem bar, so he may be able to help.

p.s. If you're fortunate enough to have a 93 year old dad who still treats you like a teen, every Father's Day is very special.

You should wear a helmet with one and pad the bar

Thanks for the advice, everyone ... and Yes, it is pretty great to have a Dad still around. I'm going to miss him.
I've gone through the roll bar discussions in the past and decided it will be a good thing for my situation. Tricky part is I don't want to have something shipped, only to find it interferes with the soft top or Miata seats.

If your top goes up and down with those seats then I believe the roll bar would too. Most roll bars will work with the soft tops. Open to corrections.

I have the autopower roll bar in mine, while the top will go up and down,I can’t do it without scratching the roll bar. Even with 2 people it will scratch. Not a huge problem for me since the top has only been up twice for testing purposes, but I have lucked out several times by enduring some light sprinkles. Several times I have opted to take my other car rather than risk rain and having to deal with the top. If scratches on the bar don’t bother you than not a big deal.
