Floor mount Pedals

Hi, I am looking to resurrect a parts car and going custom on a lot of stuff.

I was looking at moving to a floor mount pedal hoping to get some more room for my 13 4E shoes and maybe even a bit more leg room (6').

Anyone use these or similar and did it help with room? Any downsides other than the customization required to mount? Any better options?

Good luck, the X member frame is going to make it very difficult at best.

Only a partial solution, I have size 13s too but not wide. I bent the clutch & brake pedals to move them slightly to the left. It gave me more clearance.

I am also 6’ in a 67.5. I moved the seats back about 3” & dropped the seat bottoms onto the floor (new foam) so I could put the top up without hitting it with my head. If you move the passenger seat back, check the proposed hole locations to be sure the seat studs will not interfere with the parking brake linkage, I have to remove the brake hardware to get to the seat nuts.

That might be a possible solution. Did you have to pull the pedal box out and heat to bend or do they bend in the car?

I just pulled the bolts that held the pedals to the box, put them in the vise, then heated & beat them a bit. More beat than heat.

My mom, who was all of 5'2" always encouraged me to "stretch Greg, stretch!" so I could grow taller (her brother was 6ft). I'm a towering 5'6", fell in love with a car designed for smaller stature Japanese folks, have been able to lay in the trunk of the car when digging into the body work, and can cruise in stock seats for 10hrs in relative comfort. Mom, I'm OK with it...

I'm a size 12 4E, 6 foot 2 inches tall. and yeah there isn't a lot of room Still, I can drive my car with normal shoes. When I go somewhere, I do wear driving shoes, but around town I can make normal shoes work.

Floor mounted pedals are a pain. I had them in a "69 Alfa GTV and they caused many issues. Granted, these were factory floor mounted setups, not a tilton or something like that. I think you will run into several issues trying to do this. The first being the cross member in the frame. The second, the exhaust that runs through said frame, and right under the pedals and drivers seat.

I hate to say it, but the best solution may simply be a set of driving shoes.

Thanks for the info from a fellow 4e, it sounds like the slight bend to the pedals noted earlier in the thread and some driving shoes are in my future

The width of the pedal box area is more that 2" greater than the gen 1 Miata. My size 10" const boots just barely fit to the left of the clutch to hit the dead pedal in the Miata. Datsun roadster so much more room, most of which I'll be using up with the 5.0 T5 bellhousing swap.

I didn't realize the miata had such a small area. The 5.0 swap sounds fun.
