On Saturday June 12 I attended the Breakfast Club Rally in Northern California. Here is my report from the day:

https://www.zcarblog.com/2021/06/21/eve ... -6-12.html

Image

The rally began with an unofficial cars and coffee meet in Mill Valley, lots of cool cars everywhere and I had to park on the side as it was packed!

On the hunt for Datsuns, I came across a new roadster owner! This is Michael Quinn's '70 2000. He purchased it in SoCal and drove it up to San Francisco recently.

Ian's 1967 2000, SRL # 601. This was a full frame-off resto by Les Cannaday years ago and Ian has been meticulous maintaining it. Love the white/red combo:

and of course can't go wrong with Libras and sticky 195/60/14 tires!
Image

At 9am we all began the rally, first stop Point Reyes Station, great chance to see cars I missed at the start:

From there we wound our way down into Petaluma for lunch, as BCR is always #donebynoon! Lovely scenery here:

Image

Had lunch with Ian, son Aldo and Graham (BCR founder) at Brewster's Beer Garden in the historic district:
Image

Had to take more photos of Ian's '67 2000, it's too lovely!

Even got some great video of Ian rolling on the freeway, enjoy!

Drove home through San Francisco:

I highly recommend signing up for the next BCR event, it is a great time with good folks and fantastic Northern California roads:

Yes, thanks for posting, that was fun. Great variety. Love the green convertible Mustang and the wheel choice, the car has the right stance/look for me.

You know what's crazy? I freaked out when I saw that green Mustang. 80 miles back in my hometown i would occasionally see and hear this green Mustang buzzing around local streets. I even took a picture of it parked in a driveway while I was on bike ride with my kids last year during shutdown...and here it was on the rally!

I parked right behind it, and immediately met the owner. We both chatted about how close we actually live from each other; literally 1 mile apart...it was cool. He's also got a Ford Falcon...and again I showed him a picture I snapped of it in his driveway awhile back (stalker).

Oh yes, I love every bit of that car... size, style, stance, color, convertible. The perfect four seater cruiser. My daughter is visiting from Germany, and we (my wife and I) have been taking her on the drives we enjoy, but we have to take two cars (Roadster and Z3). The Mustang would solve all that. What a sweet ride.

On Sunday 6/13 I attended Morning Motors Cars and Coffee event in Santa Cruz. Here is my report:
https://www.zcarblog.com/2021/06/24/eve ... -6-13.html

For this event I drove the roadster solo to grab a good spot and to coordinate getting my family there. Lots of Nissan/Datsuns! Great mix of cars. Some of my favorites:

Ray's Hakosuka Skyline:
Image

Safari Gold 510 wagon on Hayashi wheels:
Image

Singer 911 Porsche...soooo many neat details!
Image

Wild MOPAR race car tribute:
Image

Lots of familiar faces, including this guy...Michael Carion! He was Sora's previous owner:
Image

One great perk about DWA's C&C is the location... some of the best driving roads are close by. It's also minutes away from downtown Santa Cruz and miles of beaches along HWY 1. I highly recommend checking it out. After the event slowed down I took the family to our favorite beach before driving back home.

It was a great weekend of driving. Ran the Breakfast Club Rally up in Northern California the day before. 324 miles. 1 tank of gas. Endless Smiles Per Gallon!

Happy 4th of July!

Took the roadster up to the hills in the evening:

While snapping some photos I met an older gentleman in a Porsche Macan. He was absolutely throttling it through the canyons, and stopped to chat. He told me "You've got to beat on these things for a little bit"...and peeled out. It was awesome.

Here's to Independence day!

That video is so awesome that I won't even say anything about the gas cap being misaligned.

Happy 4th!

Ran across a great article titled "A detailed look back at the Datsun Roadster " on my newsfeed. Originally posted on Hotcars.com Car pictured in photos looks suspiciously like Alvins beautiful car. Is that you Alvin? Originally published June 13th if anybody wants to look it up.
