Above 4K it actually sounds like a more modern car.
I did notice the speedo inching up to a figure that seemed - well- somewhat aggressive for the environment...?

Weird Datsun Things That I Do #4,080

I love exploring in the roadster and I often find myself wondering, "Hey can I drive my roadster there?" to places typically not meant for cars. On Sunday a lingering curiosity was finally fulfilled: there is a "landing pad" of sorts right in the middle of a cloverleaf exchange at HWY 85/17. Entry to this area reminds me of a "secret" ramp in Mario Kart...you exit the freeway off-ramp and as the cloverleaf's downward radius starts increasing a secondary, non-descript driveway becomes visible. Turn-in a bit sharper and boom, a small parking lot is revealed. I'm in the middle of a concrete jungle with overpasses surrounding above and weaving on-ramps below me.

Then my mind wanders...we could get a decent amount of cars here for a small meet! Access is, well, questionably legal. But totally satisfying. #GetoutAndDrive!

Also, spotted Ken Kwan crossing the Golden Gate Bridge in his SR20-powered '69 SRL:

Roadster Drive Today. 3-10-21. 69 2000 Datshond. 92 miles.
Short drive today. Low 50s but sunny.
Explored some local nearby roads around Snohomish.
Found a good one to add to my drive routes.

Roadster Drive Today. Saturday. 3-13-21. 67 SR20DET. 245 miles. Bellingham
Drove the scenic Skagit Valley route to Bellingham. Around 60. Partly sunny.
Visited DROPS member Tony E who owns 67 2000 #423.
Nice, running, matching #s, roadster, with unfortunate prior owner "hip surgery".
Tony had some surplus high windshield parts to exchange for large bills.
Always a good drive when you come home with roadster parts.! Thanks Tony.

We did some work on that car... is it running better now? I think there was a distributor issue as I recall...

On Saturday I found some pretty blossoms:

On Sunday I drove to Oakland to visit a long-time roadster friend, Dana Nojima. He has owned his '70 SRL for 35 years!
Image

This 2000 was originally Spanish Red, seen on the trunklid. Dana painted the car decades ago in bright red. He rebuilt the U20 about 4 years ago:

Dana is moving to the PNW and kindly gave me a bunch of spare parts he didn't have time to move.

We wish Dana the best on his new adventure!

Roadster Drive today. Tuesday. 3-16-21. 67 SR20DET. 120 miles. Mud MT.
Nice day in the PNW. Cool. Low 50's. Some clouds.
Drove the Enumclaw-Mud Mt. loop.
Saw some strange "boutique" critters and a pig that escaped from his pen.

I'm so far from being able to drive my car it kinda makes my stomach hurt to watch this thread... but, man, some of the photos are gorgeous! and the scenery and the cars... I'll use this as motivation.

Sigh... someday...
