Can you use a passenger seat for a driver's seat 68 1600

Post by TobyMan »

My current situation is that my seats are still at the upholsterer and I don't see getting them back anytime soon :(
I have the chance to buy a used seat that I could use until they are done so I can drive the car :D The seat for sale is from a current thread here on the forum. Has pic.
Possible issue is that the seat is a passenger seat not the drivers. Anybody know if I can use a passenger seat for the drivers seat? I have the rails from my original driver's seat. Looks like the seat is from a 68 1600 and I have a 68 1600.

It will rub, if you look closely they are mirrored images of each other. You can do but it will rub.

Just to follow-up and finish this thread. Yes, you can use a passenger seat for a driver's seat 68 1600 with only a slight rub as pictured.

Looky what I got back from the upholsterer today! 1122 days later, 3 years 26 days, 100s of texts 100 phone calls and 50 visits. Can't rush an artist you know 😵‍💫. They are nice actually extremely nice but....just too long. Anyway what is the forums thoughts on what to use to clean/preserve the new seats. I got the seats and foam from Dean almost 4 years ago.

you demonstrate the patience of Job, well done and nice Toby.
In my experience, most of the off-the-shelf vinyl products these days have the/increased UV protection which was not true in times past.
