311 Alernator Alternative Tech Section




Here is some great information on various alternators that will fit the roadster from Ray Bourgeois.

Here is some alternator info for you. I have just picked up 2 alternators (one to be a spare) for my non-smog 1600 from Wilson Auto Electric shown below. I got them from here because they happened to have their head office head in my home town, but they also have plenty of distributors thru out the States.

They are listed under the 1968 510 but they are identical to the Mitsubishi oem# AC300 that came on the non-smogged SPL311.

In the past, on my other 1600, I have also used the Mazda RX2 alternator Mitsubishi #AG2050T5 F2.

Another re-manufacturer in the Texas area has a $67 alternator which also will plug in and bolt on, so I included the link.

I realize that the emission controlled SPL311 & SRL311's used the Mitsubishi oem# AS2030A2 alternators and that they had a single long lug for mounting to engine. Unforunately I have not located the Lester number for them at this time to get that series of interchanges for that casting. Hopefully I can find someone with a Lester interchange catalogue or Cd to get the info.

Here is some additional info for the alternators. The Lester interchange numbers for our casting and alternator types should be:
LESTER NUMBER 14103 FOR THE 2 EAR(SINGLE MOUNT) ALTERNATOR-Smog Type
LESTER NUMBER 14104 FOR THE 3 EAR (DOUBLE MOUNT) ALTERNATOR-Non-smog type

Here is some interchange part listings from Wrenchhead Central for both the spl311 and srl311 (2 ear smog type, 3 ear non-smog) Reliance automotive and Westling list the Mitsubishi type. Please note that Hitachi also had some that fit for the roadsters and may have the same Lester number, but I have not confirmed their mounts yet.
