Dick Tillinger's 1967.5 2 liter engine, solexed 44PPH roadster with a 5 speed gear box. Purchased in 1974. Exterior color white. Original color was gold. No need for tops as it is strictly a race car with a colorful history. Equiped with a roll cage for spirited racing. Dick hails from Allegany, NY and is a member of OROC. Cars nick name is "Instant Race Car...Just add Water". Dick's comments "ex-Bob Sharp CP/DP racecar (1967-1970)".
-00095 is a race car--original engine was U20-00344; original color was red (later maroon, now white) Okay, long story about why it got its nickname: Two decades after Bob Sharp's very successful career in this car*, it was hopelessly outclassed in SCCA (in my hands), except in the rain. It was fairly successful in my hands in SVRA, and in the rain it was a giant-killer. The best race I ever ran in it was the SVRA Group Six Vintage race in September, 1989. It qualified 14th out of a field of over 40 big-bore cars such as Corvettes, real Trans-Am cars, Jag XKE's, Porsche 911's, etc. (in the dry!), and finished the slightly wet race in third overall (behind a Trans-Am Mustang and a Jag XK-E), after running second for several laps. Because of its prowess in the rain, I nicknamed it "Instant Race Car ... Just Add Water".
