311 Skid Mark Run Through Sonoma Valley--July 28th, 2001

The 311 Skid Marks held their second run as a club today. We had six cars this time. More would be better but six is good. A special thanks goes to Lou Smaldino for showing up in Eric's 67.5 1600 to make the run with us. Tobin Ginter set the details for this run. Great job Tobin. Some of us met at the park 'n ride in Rohnert Park at 10 AM. We then cruised on up to the Ledson Winery on Hwy 12 and met the rest of the crew around 10:30 AM. We took a quick tour of the winery and Tobin sweet talked the manager into letting us pull our cars out front for a cool looking picture taking session. We then cruised on into Glen Ellen-picked up some lunch at the Glen Ellen Deli/Store and motored up to the Bezinger Winery to eat lunch at the out door picnic area. There we talked roadsters and things. Next we went into the town of Sonoma looking to crash a 50's car show but first we stopped off to look at Tobin's 67.5 solexed 2 liter. Sweet looking car. There was no car show and Sonoma was really crowded as Saturday's usually are there. Everyone decided to go their own way. Mark and Mel Burchill and myself decided to run up over Sonoma Mountain Road and then headed home. Here are some pictures of the run. Enjoy--we did!

Alan with his daughter Anca-the youngest member of the "Skid Marks". She was a good sport the whole time even when daddy was burning rubber and squealing tires around the corners.

41KB,
Here is a shot of the Ledson Winery. It was supposedly built as a spec house but did not sell so it was turned into a winery. Truth be the winery was the intent from the beginning but that is pure speculation on my part.

45KB,
Here is a cool shot of our cars in front of the winery. Tobin used his ties with Mondavi to get us the shoot. What ever works I say!

Here we are getting ready to leave the Ledson Winery. Good thing we did not leave any pools of oil on their driveway.
