Just curious. If I change out the flexible part of the oil pressure line, bottom of the engine to the frame mount tab do I need to do anything with respect to the fact that it would only have air in it and it only goes to the oil pressure gauge so there is no way for it to bleed air out?

On other vehicles it did not seem to matter as I guess air pressure or oil pressure is still just pressure, although I would think air can compress and oil does not?

Any trick to this?

I built a custom braided cable from Pegasus Racing (the parts list is documented somewhere on this site) and never had any problems after my engine rebuild. If you think about it, if the engine is off for a long time, the oil galley will most likely drain off some amount, so it would always have problems if air in the line caused misreadings. I'm thinking the air bleeds back to the crankcase or something.

The oil will act like a piston on the air and because there is an "unlimited" amount of oil available, the air will always compress to the pressure of the oil.

+ 1, my engine has plenty of air inside and the oil pressure is ~ 20 psi per 1000 rpm.
So I guess the air does not matter ...

Is 4 psi expected for the fuel pump and SU carborators?

4 psi is acceptable. The pump is considered a 3 psi pump but 4 psi is just fine.

Which way do the plastic floats go in the float bowl?
With the metal stripe which runs across the float parallel to the valve cover length.
Or perpendicular?

The two bent up ears on the strip constrain the needle valve lever mechanism. Think of it as a channel for the arm to ride in.
So it depends on which way your fuel inlet is arranged.

As long as it is right side up it will find it place.

What was the original finish on the turn signal stalk for a 68? Mine seems to be rust.....

Now that I have more than one center console, I have to ask this question. On the low windshield, was the center console box wrapped in a material or was it just painted? The one I have in my car is painted black and the arm rest is covered in leather. The second one in my possession is leather wrapped and under the material it is still the red primer, which is why I am asking. Thanks!

Vinyl wrapped was standard, with flocking inside I believe.
