Guessing it is M10 and either 1.5 or 1.25. Since my block is 5 main, I suspect it is metric.

Hard to know with Datsun, any change goes ...
I don't have time this morning to check the thread gauges in the garage, but I would suspect that it is an M10 x 1.25 as that seems to be the common size according to Gordon's Garage. The bigger issue is the length. You don't want it too long as those bolts penetrate to the inside of the block, and iirc, one that is too long can get dangerously close to the crankshaft. https://web.archive.org/web/20050208185 ... tspecs.asp

thanks for the tip on bolt length, looks like 40 mm bolt will yield 0.5 inches into block
with flat and external star washer, and slightly less with normal lock washer (but more than 3/8" into block with lock compressed).

Bolt is M10 x 1.5 it seems. these bolts are half the cost of 1.25.

How low is too low when it comes to oil pressure? My car used to have 40psi at idle and like 65 at higher revs. Now I'm down to like 10 at idle and 40 at revs.
Oil a little low? Time to get a longer dipstick:)

When low on oil the pressure might drop some, did you check the stick?
Although some say about 10 psi per 1000 rpm is about normal. Depends on warm or cold too.
At cold I get more pressure.

Oil is full but I'm running 10-40. Someone said to use thinner during the winter.

Ive read that the closer the viscous number the better 30wt or 10/30.
next oil change Try 3qts of 10/40 and 1 qt of 20/50, or 15/40 if you can find it.
Why are you letting your car idle? :smt064

Has anyone upholstered their existing late model dash?
My 80's Rallye dashcap has run it's course, and I was thinking that an alcatera type material might work well for my now babied roadster.

I did some searching but could not locate this being done (or why it hasn't).

Thanks!

No expert, but I think that the thickness of the material would play a big role in a successful recover.
The depth of the gauges may pose a problem. Fitting the gauges and knobs and clock and such may pose a problem as well.
One would have to prep the substrate of the old dash to a condition of near perfection so the alcatera would show no imperfections.

Yeah.... I had the same thoughts. I think the thinkiness can be managed. But I agree, getting the dash prepped damn near perfect could pose an issue. I may grab a dash from a donor and make a test run at it. I will document and post.

If anyone else has already done this... please PM me.
Thanks

Can you guys confirm either the bleeders are on upside down or the whole wheel assembly is swapped left for right. Pretty sure it is the latter....and I'll need to do the full switch.

Rotated for sure, maybe also left to right.

Cylinder at the top and adjuster at the bottom, emergency brake lever in the rear.

Complete manuals and pictures in the WIKI.

As I suspected...thanks for confirming what I saw in tech area and translated into real life. Was hoping to be wrong.
