Hey guys,
I have not had a roadster in many years but that might be changing in the near future. I have my eye on a 69 2000. Still working on the details. I currently have several Datsuns. I own 3 510s and a 240Z.
Here are a few pics:
My 240Z is not for the purist but it is built the way I like it.
Here are a few pics:
This was taken at the Z convention in Daytona Beach, FL in 2007.
As you can see, it is far from stock. 2002 Corvette LS1 motor, 6 speed trans. R200VLSD rear, 13" Brakes, fully adjustable suspension, etc. 2650 pounds and 340RWHP. My friends call her "the Silver Bullet".
Here is one of my 510s.
Glad to find a great forum like this. I hope to be a contributing member soon.
Enjoy the Ride~
David

David,
Welcome-sweet looking rides you have there. I really like the non-stock Z car. Enjoy.

Actually I have already been at his house. Bought some wheels from him about 3 years ago and ran into him at Road Atlanta 2 years ago. He lives about 2 miles from Alan...

Sorry to revive this thread from the dead. I never got that roadster I was looking at. Alot has happened since my last post, sold the Z, got divorced, had some health issues but all is good now and I got a few more Datsuns too. Here is one of the newer projects.
As you can see, it is a 510 wagon that has been customized into a 2 door wagon. This one was built right. Superb metal work that looks factory. The guy that built it used doors from a 2 door, which are longer to allow access to the back, along with the 2 door B pillars welded in and the front section of the 2 door quarter panel joined to the rear section of the wagon quarter panel. It has custom made Pop out quarter windows like the 2 door 510s. I plan to install a VG30 V6 and other goodies.
I call it, my "3 Door Dime".
Also,
If any of you are on the east coast, we have an Annual 510 Meet at Summit Point Raceway in the spring.
More info here. http://www.eastcoastdatsun510.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This year is the 17th Annual and is May 17th-19th.
All Datsun and Datsun Lovers are Welcome!
I came back here today cause I was doing some spring cleaning in my storage and came across a transmission someone on the list might be able to use. I will post it up in the classifieds but here is a small bit of info.
Roadster 5 speed that was used behind an L18 powered 510. Has the early 240Z removable bell housing on it so if you want to put it in the roadster, you will need a bellhousing. It was working great when removed about 6 years ago. Been in my storage garage ever since. Not sure if it has the brass or steel synchro rings as I never opened it up.
See my classified ad on this forum.
If you know anyone looking for one, let me know.

Welcome back if not just for a peek and a sale.
With the innovative and quality customizations you have done with Datsuns, it would be very interesting to see what you would do with a Roadster!

Funny how life can come along and smack you in the face huh?! Glad to hear you're recovering and getting back in the game. The Z was cool, looked factory other than the name! Nice wagon too. Now, go get a Roadster! You need a convertible in your life! My passenger seat stayed empty for several years following my divorce, occupied only by a Barbie doll, or the occasional blow up doll my friends would strap in (it's a long story...). That changed about 5 yrs ago, and I hope to show up at Shasta with my passenger seat occupied by a REAL woman!
Best wishes...

Sure is. Helps put things in perspective I guess.
I know that I will get another roadster some day. Waiting for a clean one to come along at a good price and not so original that I would not want to modify it.
But with a new job and a new GF and the wagon project and my 2 door VG33 project, I am already feeling overwhelmed. But a roadster will be added to the collection some day.
Then this one came along a few weeks ago and I just couldn't help myself.

Were you going to shoehorn it into a roadster?

That was the plan. I have a '68 on the side of the house with no engine but a lot of money spent by the PO on frame, new parts, etc. I sold the rebuilt 1600 and trans for a good price, bought the VG, but then divorce came and I lost interest or need for it. I'm probably gonna sell off the whole thing later this summer. It was going to be interesting getting the turbo in there, but I think I had it worked out.
If someone else wants a project, I have some very nice parts for this car... Brand new $1000 dash and console by Just Dashes in CA, nice top, panels, emblems, etc...

Wow, so I am not alone. I built the Z while I was not very happy in my marriage and after we split up, I either lost interest or the need for it myself.
