Spark Plug Firing Order for dummies HELP!!

As careful as I was, I think I messed up the firing order on my 68 2000. I did them one at a time, but somehow messed something up because now it won't start! Also FYI, the NGK wireset that is supposed to fit, doesn't as you can see.

If someone could give me the firing order from the photo I have below, it would greatly help me out. I went from the front (fan) of the engine 1234 numbered in the photo. I just need to know which spark plug, corresponds to which number I have indicated on the distributor cap.[/url]http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/400dfe4d_67 ... ABTmuK3PhC

You may need to cut and paste the above URL to see it.
Thank you!!

I cannot get that URL to work but Stickerman pointed you in the correct direction. There is a stock distributor drawing on the main website. Just bring your number one piston up to top dead center and pull the cap to see which way the rotor is pointed. You may want to pull the number one spark plug so you can stick something in there to be 100% sure you are at top dead center. Then put the plug wires on 1-3-4-2 like Stikerman said and you should be fine.

OK so going counterclockwise, which one is 12 o'clock?

Best to find #1 with piston at top dead center but here is your picture marked up

OK I might have it. So when I get #1 (at the radiator end) at Top Dead Center. Wherever the rotor is pointed, that will be #1. Put #1 Spark Plug Wire there. Then I take spark plug #2 and put it at the #3 position according to my photo. (Assuming that 1 is correctly marked in the photo) Then I take Spark Plug #3 and put it where #4 Dist cap is (Once again going by my photo) Then #4 Spark Plug goes where #4 is in my photo. (which should actually be #2 in reality) According to my photo do I have that right? I am also assuming that #1 starts at the radiator, than it's 2, 3 , 4 to the firewall.

That just confused me more. I think it's the 1-3-4-2 that's throwing me off. Not sure if that refers to the rotor or the head. I did say it was for dummies!! I'm having a tough time getting it. I guess I need to know what 1-3-4-2 corresponds to. Thanks, I appreciate the help. I'm normally much more careful when I replace the wires.

Also. Borg-Warner seems to make a set that at least looks right.

OK, let me give it a shot.
The 1-3-4-2 is the firing order at the distributor cap.
First, get cylinder #1 (closest to the radiator) at TDC (the best way is to pull the plug and listen/feel for the puff of air, then line up the timing marks on the crank pulley. It should be very close to lining up if air is still being pushed out of the hole)
Second, once TDC is attained, pull the distributor cap off and see where it is pointing. Per your picture, it should be pointed at YOUR #1 or #3 position. That will be the starting point for the firing order, 1-3-4-2.
For example, if your rotor is pointing at YOUR #1 position on the cap, spark plug wire #1 goes there. Then working counter-clockwise from there on the cap, spark plug wire #3 goes on the next terminal, then wire #4 goes on the next terminal, then wire #2 goes on the next terminal, then your back to #1 again.
But... if your rotor is pointing at YOUR #3 position on the cap that will be where wire #1 will go, then same as above.
Hope this helps out and clears up any confusion.
