Hey my friends, I was wondering what would be the correct water hose arrangement if I decide not to connect the water supply to the heater core. I will install it and everything the way it is supposed to go, but right now I am more interested in having the engine itself properly "cooled" while I do the fine tunning, and I'm missing a few minor things for the heater connection.

I was thinking of putting a temporary plug on the head's outlet where the brass valve is. Is this ok? and if so, what other alterations can I do temporarely?

The easiest way to by-pass the heater core temporarily would be to connect a short lenght of hose looping it from the tube under the manifold back into the intake. That way all you have to do is hook up the two hoses to get it working. It should not hurt a thing. I do not run a heater in any of my roadsters. Some people recommend against doing this but I have never had a problem with it. Your's sounds short term anyway so go for it.

Thanks Steve! But I am not sure yet about what line goes where, because the water tube under the heatshield has two outlets....is it one to connect it to the manifold's valve and one TO the heater core , or FROM the core? By process of elimination then, the valve's other end will send or receive the core's water I assume.

Okay, since I am heaterless completely I am going from memory here so if I screw it up someone else will surley pipe up. There is a fitting attached to the water pump that connects via an elbow to the tube that goes under the heatshield. The heater valve is at the end of this. A hose goes from the heater valve into the heater core and comes back out the heater core connecting to a fitting on the back side of the intake manifold. Another fitting comes out the front of the intake and connects to a fitting on the side of the head. Thus completing the flow of the heated water. Hope that makes a little sense and is close to correct.

Now it makes sense! I was forgeting the heater valve! That is the one that has the elbow and that goes all the way to the heater's controls inside the car, right?
