Is this year one of those milestones, like the 20th or 25th anniversary?

It is the 25th. Extra festivities are planned. I had hoped to have the car spruced up. Don't know if that will get done but the bigger, better, Mark II ice cream maker is coming along well. We hope to have an ice cream social on Thursday night along with the batches that are done in the park.

For those who have not seen it, the Mark I is a hand crank maker driven by a Maytag gasoline washing machine motor. When I fire it up in the park at the show people start circling at a distance. When the motor stops, indicating the batch is ready, it is pretty much a feeding frenzy.

The preliminary plan it to see if we can get a few folks to bring their makers from home and have a serious ice cream pig out at the hotel Thursday night.

Came through Shasta on 2-27-09. Checked out the lodging and found the Alpine Lodge to have the best prices for the 10th and 11th. $69.00 for a king. All others were 119.00 to 159.oo. All but the Woodsman were old but very nice and came with breakfast of sorts. For $50 bucks I can eat steak.

Alpine #800-500-3145 $69 (has one room with three queens, not sure how much)
Mt Shasta Inn 530-918-9292 $139-159 ( no windows looking at parking lot)
Best Western 530-926-3101 $149
The Woodsman 530-926-3411 $129
Choice Inn 530-926-4811 $119

I plan on being there this year. Shasta has campgrounds nearby, and I'm staying there. $12 for a space near the lake. It ought to be pretty warm, even in the evenings. I'm doing some hiking and swimming as well. There's waterfall you can dive from. I will be coming back from Mexico the day before, thus will likely be a bit travel weary.

I guess there isn't a Shasta website yet, if so that would be a good link to post to give people the maximum amount of choices for where to stay.

Hopefully, not warm from the surrounding fires again, although the smoke would keep the 'skeeters away.

Appreciate the cheaper suggestion. :smt023

I don't recall ever seeing one although the info does get posted here, the roadster mailing list, and the NOWROC site.

Isn't there a primary organizer? If so a website with all info in one place is so..........21st century :)
Then you just do a periodic bump to keep the flame alive.
