North Cascades Hwy & Chuckanut Drive

Two of my favorite drives in northwestern Washington. Chuckanut Drive takes you along the Puget Sound with views of the San Juan islands and the North Cascades Highway (Highway 20) takes you up and over the Cascades with incredible views as well. If you have a full day to kill (or more), the Cascades Scenic Loop is hard to beat if you like mountain views.

Another one a bit further up north that I've only been on a couple of times is the Sea to Sky highway going from the Vancouver, BC area up towards Whistler, BC.

For information as to exact location and such, google any of the above.

Stevens Pass (Highway 2) in Washington state is a nice drive during the summer and especially fall with all of the colors.

Oh yeah. The Chuckanut! Fantastic drive, great views and some fine fine dining spots for fresh seafood. Local oysters and salmon, it does not get any better! I`ll definitely be detouring off the I5 next week on my way south to California.

One of my local favs. The Westside Road in BC`s Okanagan valley. Westbank north to the head of Lake Okanagan, 40 miles of twisties, takes about an hour and 15 minutes. BC`s version of the Dragon.

Nice views. Is the water really that green?

It is, yes. It's hard to get the color very good in pictures, but it's kind of a turquoise color.

The first lake is Diablo and the second is Ross. I started a bit later than I had wanted so I didn't get to Chelan.

Don't forget the canyon road between Ellensburg and Yakima. Not very long, but if you're going that way it's much better than the freeway!

Snoqualmie Falls is about a mile and a half from my house; I'll see what I can do when the weather gets clearer...

(Which usually happens in July or August! )

Does highway 89 around the southeast part of Lake Tahoe count? (sorry no pics) Or is that not far enough north? If not far enough north, feel free to delete my azz.
