I'm putting the starter back into the U20/5-Speed.

I can't seem to locate the note I left myself when removing the darn thing 5 months ago... :?

Of the 4 wires, I know that the 1 with the female clip atttaches to the male clip. ;)

It just the other 2 Red and 1 Black I am confused.

This is kinda embarassing, but please help!

Minh,

It has been some time since I've seen a stock starter, but I think the red wires are your reverse lights wiring. There should be a long pair of red wires going to the tranny for the reverse switch.

You could touch them together and see if your backup light comes on to verify!

The other wire is the trigger line to the solenoid, I think that is the male to female connection you mentioned...

Is the last the big wire from the battery or a smaller one? Could it be the 3rd/4th gear switch line? I thought they only had those on the 70's?

I don't have a wiring diagram handy, but that will tell you the whole story! TR

Thanks Travis...

I am able to attach the red wire with the femal clip to the male clip.

There is one longer post that uses a nut and washer.

There is another shoter post that uses a bolt and washer.

The remaining wires are a hot positive main wire from the battery, a black 12 gauge wire, and a red 12 gauge wire.

I am guesing the red ones go together on the longer post. Not sure though.

I'll try to look at that diagram again to make some sense of it.
